has anyone taken a college internet course before?
i just realized i have an option of taking an internet course for a subject, and since i'm already commuting a lot it would really help, but i don't really understand how i can get college credits for it. it seems so unofficial and easy? or is it actually kinda hard?
it's fully internet, it doesn't even have a room number or anything, so i'm guessing they'll mail me the details?
what do you guys think? how are internet courses

i have taken one...never again...its actually pretty difficult...there are lectures that u have to watch online and if u dont understand something u cant ask the professor..most of the learning is done through u reading the book and all of the assignments are timed assignments online..at least thats the way it is done here...pain in the ass..just take regular courses if u can

i take online and on campus courses... 14 credits on campus and 7 credits online
the college has its own website that you log on using your student id number, my school has online exams but when you open them nothing else can be opened and there is a timer going on, its some program you have to install.
you have a "assignment box" where you put your HW into.
the thing i like about it is that its work at your own pace, pretty much you have to get everything done within the 15 weeks or when ever your term ends. now i usually do everything within 2-3 weeks and have more time to worry about other classes.
you get credits for it, one of my classes is 3 credits, and one is 4.

your best bet is to email the teacher now and see if you can get a syllabus.
everywhere is different so we dont know what that particular teacher does with the class.
i know some classes you have to show up and take tests at the college testing center.

this sounds pretty nice actually. so there are no online lectures you have to watch for your classes?

i did at the school i went for undergrad and they sucked tbh. teachers would put assignments on blackboard and give you like 48 hours to do them and turn it in. and if you dont check blackboard enough you are pretty much screwed.

I completed a diploma program which took 5 years and was completely online.
I'm also doing a certificate course online now as well...some are great, others suck.
It really depends on the course; finance and economics can be hard because you are really on your own to figure it out. Other ones weren't too bad.
You have to have some self-discipline because it is easy to get behind.

I'm doing my accounting degree online as I work fulltime and couldn't afford to give that up.
It's fine, you just have to make sure you do the work as it's so easy to just end up on face book of these forums

I've taken two online courses. The first one was Small Business Management last winter and the most recent was a bs course called Word Power. The courses in terms of work load weren't bad and I had two semesters to do the work in. The hard part is finding the motivation to do the work since you're not in constant communication with a professor or class mates. I always find myself scurrying at the last minute to finish the courses and take the final exams.
If you're going to take one make sure that you have the desire and drive to do the work. It may sound easy, but its rather difficult in all actuality.

My biggest problem with online courses was getting the motivation to actually do them and not misc (srs). I'm not being fececious, nor am I lazy, but I mean, seriously, there's a LOT of potential distraction out of a college setting. That said, once I got motivated, I thought it was nice. Definitely something you do for classes you have to take but don't need for any other reason

Depends on the class you have to take.
I usually take 1 online class per semester and they are usually classes I have to take for degree requirements and nothing that will actually apply to my career path.
Do I learn anything form the class? Of course, I learn how to take an online test without studying or even opening the book until 5 minutes before the test. I also learn how to Google efficiently. Also, I have learned that Teamwork is the best.
Online classes tend to be very structured. Usually things are due on the same day each week, or every other week.
I've found them to be very easy, but not at all educational.

I've pulled in A's in Upper Division Chem Courses that I didn't study for much. I just learned to have the right resources open and how to google things quickly. I didn't care for the material because I wasn't a Chem Major (it was an upper division elective) Do IT, unless you have low intelligence and can't study on your own.
