Knee Pain in one spot after first Squat in over a year, sore or injury?

It's about one inch up and one inch to the right of my right kneecap. It's not extremely painful, but it's not the "sore from lifting" type of painful. What is located there?

It was my first time squatting in a year.

    What could it be?

    it could be anything. seriously.
does movement bring on the pain?
    or does it just ache?

if you're talking about your upper leg as in one inch up and over that's your vastus of your quad. but again since that attaches way up to the hip, this could be the result of a movement problem in the hip, pelvis, lower spine or ankle or opposite shoulder or or or
    but likely it's movement based.

doesn't sound like you have a specific mobility program where you deliberately move through each joint in the body? this can be hugely beneficial.
