Wheel of Time http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wheel_of_Time
It's top-3 fantasy series of all time IMO. Lord of the Rings has nothing on it.
" The shadow shall rise across the world, and darken every land, even to the smallest corner, and there shall be neither Light nor safety. And he who shall be born of the Dawn, born of the Maiden, according to Prophecy, he shall stretch forth his hands to catch the Shadow, and the world shall scream in the pain of salvation. All Glory be to the Creator, and to the Light, and to he who shall be born again. May the light save us from him."

I want to start these books. I read the SoT (Sword of Truth) novels and they were great. It too is a very long series (11 books), but it was worth the time I spent reading them.

Start them. Don't get impatient though, they're long and there are a ton of unimportant (or seemingly unimportant) details. By the time you finish the final book should be released, so that'll be nice not having to wait..
I gotta admit.. these books changed my outlook on life.

Oh I won't the Sword of Truth novels did a **** load of beating around the bush with excessively long and meaningless details. I will have to start em when I am done finals.

You know, sometimes it's the unimportant details that make a fantasy world feel more real. That's why I like the WoT series; it feels like a real place I could visit.

Sweet book, best scenes without spoilers were:
1) Verin!! that part made me go OHHHH like the kidatmoves.gif
2) Egwene with the novices. Just awesome, especially seeing her character grow over the book.
3) The scene with a certain necklace & Min
4) The scene with Rand at the end
I also think Mat was hilarious, and one scene with Cadsuane had me lol'in

I just started it myself
Old books where amazing i kind of got distilled on the newer ones, to much nobility, but I've read them twice. So far its looking really good, i need to stop miscing so much, and take the time to read it.

WoT (Wheel of Time), SoT (Sword of Truth), and A Song of Ice and Fire series' are all very similar and are excellant stories.
Anyone who has read and enjoyed one would most likely enjoy the others.
