Ever get that strong urge to lift?
Ever be chomping at the bit to go lift and you're hours or days from the opportunity? At work or a meeting or on the road or something and you get an idea you want to try or just are stoked but it's a totally inopportune time for some time?

And cranking out pushups doesn't really help either does it?

I can't do push-ups either since it involves the shoulder!
I can do legs, but I am trying to take his advice and just stay out of the gym for the 6 weeks.

I always get the urge while at work between 10am - Noon. I wish I had a gym close by to hit at lunch.

That seems to be my natural time to lift.... 10AM... After breakfast has digested...have some coffee in me...seemed to be amped to lift. If this darn work just wouldn't get in the way.

Yeah, I get that feeling all the time but then I don't want to over-train. I feel energetic to the point that I feel this is the time to set my PR.
Do you guys have any suggestions on stuff you can do to release that energy without over-training?

I get like that late in the day at work, all I think about is bailing and hitting the gym. I go right after work so nothing derails my mission. It helps me get my frustration out and by 6 PM I'm a new man.

Nope, it's not a strong urge anymore.
I used to.
Past 35 my testosterone levels are not what they used to be.
Throw in there the fatigue from work and family and I'm pretty much done.
Only thing if I go more than a couple of days without working out I get a sort of pain in my muscles, as if they're screaming to get a work out, can't describe it.

I was coming down with a cold last Sunday, but went and got in my Sunday, Monday & Wednesday workouts anyway. And I feel better for it. I got derailed this past spring with an upper respiratory and sinus infection, just had zero energy in me. I hope you get back into it soon, nothing like sitting around feeling blah.

Oh yes. I do a M-W-F type workout and between the last workout of one week and the first of the next, it's 2 days of no lifting. I ITCH to lift.
Tomorrow is my "Monday" workout. Can't wait. It's a great way to start my Saturdays.

yes - right now actually. i'm a person who gets an immediate blast based on the music blaring in my earholes via my ipod while working out. well i just got done revamping my gym playlist which includes all my very top, lift-like-a-freaking-maniac songs so i just KNOW my quads will be screaming "have mercy, bitch, pleeeeeeeeease have mercy!!" at me today.

Not so much "urge" as "anticipation." I'll be on the train going to or from work and I'll think through what I'm going to do that evening as soon as I get home. On the day I first dead lifted 300# I woke up with the whole dead lift routine, reps and weight increments, running in my mind.
And it's harder than h*ll to restain myself from lifting when I'm sick or injured, especially since the weights are literally directly below my living room. Sooooo clooose!!!
