Bringing the BLING with Platinum Hydrowhey

    Optimum Nutrition

    Platinum Hydrowhey

First of all I just wanted to thank Optimum Nutrition for a chance to try this protein. I recieved the 40 serving tub of Turbo Chocolate.

I have never had a pure isolate before that was not part of a Post/Intra Workout type drink. Since I am cutting, the higher protein to calorie ratio of Hydrowhey is attractive to me.

I had my first taste of Platinum Hydrowhey last night before my workout. The powder is very fine and mixes well, no clumps like you normally get with regular whey products. I like the taste, it is like a less sweet swiss miss hot cocoa. On the other hand, even mixing it into 10 oz of water I found the resulting mix to be a little too watery. Because of this it will not make a good mid day snack protein. On the other hand, you can take this right after an evening workout and still have room for dinner soon afterwards.

Last night I think I found the perfect way to mix this stuff in water. Mixing it with the 10 oz that is recommended just makes it far too watery for me to enjoy. I mixed it with 8oz of water and the thickness was much more like skim chocolate milk. There were no clumps and it mixed with just a few shakes of the bottle. It also tasted even better as the flavor was more concentrated.

Last night was my first night lifting since my mini-vacation, and I felt weak. I drank a ton while partying with my newlywed cousin and her husband this last weekend in San Diego (Grats you two, hope you are having fun in Maui) and I could feel the effects of it. But I'm not complaining :P

Is there any reason why it needs to be mixed with more water? Any ON reps have any comments on that?

My current stack is as follows since I did not mention that before.

    AM - Blue Up/Fish Oil/CLA/Reduction AM
    Lunch - Fish Oil/CLA/Animal Pak
    Pre-workout - Green Mag, White Blood/Platinum Hydrowhey
Intra-Workout (Lifting Days) - Purple Intrain, Purple Wraath
Intra-Workout (Cardio Days) - Purple Wraath
Post-Workout (Lifting Days) - Golden Finish
    Dinner - Fish Oil
    Before Bed - Reduction PM

I also drink regular whey protein shakes between meals with a small handful of almonds or dried blueberries for mid days snacks and keep my meals around 300-350 calories since I am cutting. I do not follow as strict of a diet as I probably should, but counting calories is a huge PITA and I really can't complain about going from 215+lbs to 193lbs since June.

    cybrwzrd,
No worries on the amount of water you mix your Hydrowhey with - go with what you like.
Haven't had any updates in a couple of days - anything new to report?
    Thanks!
