Seasonal Depression (SRS)
So I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with using supplements during the winter months to help with mood/energy.
I tend to get a little down this time of the year and was wondering what can be done?
Thanks.

I try to wake when the sunrises now, to get as much sunlight as possible. Although,
I'm all for an uprising ridding this chronological tyranny and to keep daylight savings time(summertime) year round.

I agree, I'd also like to keep Vegas summertime weather all year as well.
Where do you we petition and whom do we submit it to?

Another recommendation for Vitamin D (5-10k a day), as well as COq10 and SAMe.

Spot on with all the D recommendations. I am comfortable with 2000-3000iu. I also really believe and use SAMe pretty routinely, but after using it for a long time, I don't feel the need for high dosing. 400mg 3-5x/week esp. when used alongside Methyl Donors that also increase SAMe naturally.
Energy wise I am also logging a product I really believe in from AOR Mito Charger. You re-charge your Mitochondria and you should see some noticeable changes in energy and mood.

What about TMG instead of SAMe? 5-10k of Vitamin D isn't excessive? Esp if you don't know what your values are at? I read a post awhile back where Dinoiii recommended 2k min depending on your location, and not knowing your values.

SAMe is a methyl donor. When using other methyl donors ie. i believe NAC is one as well, they can help increase SAMe levels

TMG is also a methyl donor. I believe it supports healthy homocysteine levels.

I always say no to phenibut. I think it asking for trouble, higher dosing is equivalent to taking a prescription benzo in my book. Tolerance builds fast and it is very addicting to those prone to anxiety.

I was looking into TMG + B-vitamins in hopes to not having to spend the excess cash on SAMe and still reap the benefits. NAC is something else I was going to add. I have thread started that no one has replied too
Yeah I don't recall the high amount he recommended, actually I don't think he recommended over 5k. Because the guy that asked didn't know his values. I know their is tons of great research on and I will likely stick to 2K maybe a little higher until I can get mine checked.

I think phenbuit has potential to make things worse long term, but careful use probably ok.

TMG, folic acid, B6, B12 and even creatine can work well together to increase SAMe.

Amen!
I have been even more impressed with their formulations in the past year or two. They have done an incredible job on multi-ingredient formulations for a specific purpose, often achieving excellent synergy and efficacy. Mito Charger was something I had wanted to get when it first came out and I had forgotten about it as we Canadians have trouble getting carnitines... ChasinSkurt has a thread up awhile back and was requesting bb.com to get it in stock which reminded me of this great formula. I managed to get it and now I have my parents using it now as well. Just one of those products I would recommend just about everyone to look into for overall optimal health and functioning with an anti-aging edge.
Check out my log... I need to post up some more things in it soon, but I hope more people become interested in this product. It is a very affordable formula for what it offers imo... I have seen one or two ingredients in there being sold for what you can find the whole product for... then you also don't need the full dosage either.
btw, I also managed to pick up a couple of RPN's PLCAR when they were for sale.

Personally, I've only taken 500mgs EOD and I find that it helps. I haven't really noticed any "addiction" to it, and I have anxiety issues. I also haven't particularly noticed any increased tolerance to it.

Ultima has perhaps the most comprehensive Homocysteine support in one product I have seen. ie. multi-methyl donors working in synergy.
My Ultima log here: I discussed methyl donors quite a bit in here. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=114326561

this, there is a condition called seasonal affective disorder, that causes a form of depression due to changes in light. I know its more common in places that have really short days like Alaska and some therapy is just exposure to light

I have been using St. Johns Wort and it has been working well.
It's been studied more for general depression, but I did see it yield decent results in a study with seasonal affective disorder.

SJW works imo. Just be sure to get a quality extract from a reputable brand. Most SJW lacks a standardization of Hyperforin which is where the most benefits come from. Most standardize for only hypericin, but newest research supports Hyperforin as the best active.
