soooooo. i need a suit on short notice
so my sis just came into town from and has a wedding on saturday. she was supposed to go with a guy she was seeing, but she's breaking up with him tomorrow, lulz. so i'm doing her a favor and going with her, and in return she's buying me a suit to wear at the wedding...... because i don't have one. iunno i just never felt the need for one. not even for the job interview at my current job, hah.
she has money, but i'm not gunna make her buy me an expensive ass designer suit. especially since when i go visit her in korea next year, she's gunna get me custom fitted designer suits.
so my question is, where would i be able to get a half-decent suit on short notice for like less than 300 bucks? i think custom fitted suits at this point in time is unrealistic and not in that price range either.
i guess a differnet way to phrase my question is, who sells suits that aren't made for obese corporate americans?

is there a Mens Warehouse in your area? I have used that store in a pinch before. They have their own tailor on staff, and they have sold me a suit, altered it and had it cleaned and pressed and in my hand within a day and a half before.

I know friends who have had good luck at Goodwill. Serious. You can even find really nice brand name stuff there if you get lucky. Buy one that fits fairly well and take it to a tailor. There are many that will do same day alterations. Also Men's Warehouse will sell you a suit and tailor it same day. Their lower end stuff should be around $200 giver or take.

express has good fitting suits. i think they're around $300-$400. i never liked men's warehouse. the one time i went there, the salesman kept showing me pleated pants. their suits seem to be made for fat people. only been there once though so they might have some good ones.

Mens's Wearhouse or Syms, but on short notice the suit is unlikely to fit clean. If it's not going to be a long-term suit, best bet is to pick up a cheap suit off the rack at either of those places ($150-200) and take it to a private tailor and see if he'll be able to tailor it to fit in a few days ($100-150).
If it fits reasonably well off the rack, then I wouldn't bother. Not like you'll be trying to pick anyone up at this wedding, right?

yeah, this is the general consensus i gathered from reading through reviews/threads. which is why i'm surprised by all these people on a BBing site recommending it.
i bought a few "fitted" shirts there to fit my neck to wear ties. and they were baggy as hell.

Rule there is the same as anywhere else: Don't let them sell you something you're not comfortable with.

if your body is proportioned normal, you should be able to find one off the rack at express. they're cut slimmer than other suits i tried on. they don't have a huge selection but they usually have the basics. when i got out of college i got three of them from there. one black, one black pinstriped and a khaki one. been 3 years and they're still the only ones i own. they also have my favorite button down shirts.

she's a dentist. i doubt this is the only thing she's buying me while she's in the states.
also... she's my sister. and it's not like going to a wedding is the most awful thing i could do with a saturday. free food, free suit, free booze, and i get to meet people.

i have very little knowledge of suit pricing. but i'm gunna assume Versace suits would be well over 1k and the bishes would be like zomg look at the baller?
