Boot camp and lose of muscle.
Just wondering from experience anyone who has gone though basic training that was pretty big, how much muscle is expected to be lost? And how long did it take to gain it back? I'm assuming 2 months with no lifting, eating less ect.

Was 220, now 175. But, I run faster, I fight better, and I feel healthier.
Priorities. If staying big is the most important thing in your life, the military probably isn't for you.

nah man, you eat 3x per day and its all you can eat basically (in the NAVY) unlimited milk and soda, unlimited salad and unlimited peanut butter and jelly. if you workout in your rack at night and really concetrate on your exercises for PT you shouldnt lose too much. you do a lot of crunches too so you should get some benefit there. i use to sneak in the laundry room and do dips / pull ups / body squats at night and id do hella pushups on my rack at night. we had a get swole crew at night, all the weight lifters would do their nightly pushups and dips. just sayin. i gained weight in bootcamp, and if you lose weight in bootcamp i feel bad for you son, youll have 99 problems but a caloric defecit aint one.

Yeah, I don't know about that. In active duty combat infantry, I had 2 free days every 3 weeks.

One thing you need to realize is that soldiers are not body builders.

I lost 40 lbs, gained it back quickly though. But being huge is kind of pointless in the military. You need good cardio as well as strength.
