lulz my bad
and also, i'm not saying that it's inconceivable. i concede that it's a definite possibility. but just the thought that death (which by it's definition is the end of life) should spring our REAL life is just so wishful. makes me laugh. it kind of makes me sad too though because i know how painful the notion of death is, people really do need some comforting mechanism to get over it. meh

Well, technically that only works (scientifically) if you have infinite time.... from what we know so far, that does not seem the case.

No, it doesn't even work then. Take the set of even numbers -- 2, 4, 6, 8... -- an infinite set. Count for all of time (infinite time) and you'll never see an odd number. There's nothing that says everything has to happen.

I be defining what is for sure there or not by my experiences and proof.

Quality debate gentleman. Keep it up and this will be quoted word-for-word in a graduate level textbook someday.

the existence of the afterlife IMO is without a doubt. However that being said I wish the afterlife didn't exist. Why???? because that just complicates everything, you can never truly end or escape anything. I'd rather have a finality to things. Over and out is easier concept.

shadow, I don't think it was in this thread, but in another thread you posted how cruel it was to sentence humans to a horrendous torment of eternal fire, in which I partially agree. You see, between Jewish/Catholic/Eastern Orthodox traditions the answer lies.
The Jews believed that hell (Gehenna) was a place where everyone, except only the most holy people, went. However, only the most wicked and evil remained there forever. The rest of them were purified in no longer than 12 months.
Catholicism
The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines purgatory as a "purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven," which is experienced by those "who die in God?s grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified" (CCC 1030). It notes that "this final purification of the elect . . . is entirely different from the punishment of the damned" (CCC 1031).
Eastern Orthodox theology does not generally describe the situation of the dead as involving suffering or fire, although it nevertheless describes it as a "direful condition".[52] The souls of the righteous dead are in light and rest, with a foretaste of eternal happiness; but the souls of the wicked are in a state the reverse of this. Among the latter, such souls as have departed with faith, but "without having had time to bring forth fruits worthy of repentance. Thus, the Eastern Orthodox church believes that at some indefinite time, all souls will be made one with God.
WIKI
Pretty off topic, but it's late, and I thought it was interesting.

If you consider some of the other crap religion has come up with, the afterlife is not the most ridiculous.

You're a deluded idiot.
When the brain dies, you die. Just like when your pet dog dies, and when a monkey dies, and when a worm dies.
