Pssssst.... I have a secret... Shhhh.... TOP SECRET...
Okay, we are in the process of being approved as an adoptive family. The i's are not dotted, the t's are not crossed... we still have a couple of hoops to jump through.
That being said... our family has been selected as a POSSIBLE adoptive family for a precious young girl...
So many IF's and maybe's...
We can not get our hopes up... (yeah, just try NOT going there after reading a profile of a young child.)
So, anyway... for those of you that pray... We are directing our prayers that the caseworkers be sensitive to what is BEST for this young girl.
All I can really say is that she is 11, Is currently in foster care and by reading her profile, it SEEMS as if she would be a good fit here.
It may be that we are NOT the ones that are best for her. Even so, I think the caseworker can benefit from prayers.
I can not share her name or any other 'identifying factors' at this time.
God knows who she is... AND He knows if we are the family for her. If we are not, at least we are praying for her and maybe that was the only purpose for us reading her profile at this time... to generate prayer support.
I will keep you updated. It will be at least Thanksgiving before we know if we are selected. It would be another 6 months or so before she would join us in our home... IF we are selected.
I know it is premature... I just wanted to share my excitement at the possibility.
We are being considered before the adoption study is final because we agree to take older, more difficult children. We are open to behavior issues and medical issues that make some kiddos considered to be difficult to adopt.

How is she doing? You could still pursue adoption, usually the debilitating effects of GBS are nearly gone by the 2 year mark.

We feel blessed to be considered to care for her. I think we have a fairly awesome family, but I know that adding another child/ren will also bless us... Love is multiplied, not divided.

That would be wonderful! I know they will opt for a very slow transition process, that is best to avoid any 'disruptions' for her. She has suffered enough losses in her young life, she does not need to endure the loss of a family again.

[QUOTE=KimberleyRN;404823851]How is she doing? You could still pursue adoption, usually the debilitating effects of GBS are nearly gone by the 2 year mark.
She has partial paralasys still and is tired all the time. She also has problems with her short term memory which could be the meds. She has hit a plateau but has been working hard to improve so you never know how things will be in another year. Thanks for asking!

My prayers are always with you and your family, will and this young girl to those prayers.
At her age having a loving family would be such a gift from God...I come to to know your true heart and glad to call you my friend.

A family that looks for and searches out a need to fullfill is a family blessed. If this doesn't work out, it was not meant to be. If it does, you have your own, sought out, deliberate, and God granted charge, lovingly, and confidently placed in your hands. Bless you, and your efforts! Open hearts and lives are the recipients of more blessings than one could even begin to imagine!

Mike, I appreciate your positive attitude. I can only imagine how important your optimism is on her road back to health. There will always be children waiting in foster care for a loving family, that is the cold, hard truth. (((hugs))) to you.

Thank you so much! I feel such a need to pray for her, I woke up at 2am and prayed... now, I can not get back to sleep. Even if she does not end up here, I know that our prayers will help sustain her.

Thanks girl, I know sometimes I 'act' silly and flirtatious on here... but, when it comes to family, I am quite devoted and 'serious'. Children are a gift, and we have been blessed to get the opportunity to continue parenting, even though I can not get pregnant anymore.

If she ends up here, I know we will also be blessed by having her here. It can be quite rewarding to have a front row seat in observing how transforming unconditional love and true security can be to a child.

We feel as if God has blessed us SO much, and we want to share that blessing with children that have not really 'felt' blessed by God very much.

So, you adopted all 4? Were they international adoptions, foster, or private?

In 2 weeks the girl's social worker will meet with our case worker... they will then decide if they want to 'consider' us for a Red File Staffing.
At a Red File Staffing, the potential adoptive child's worker meets with adoption workers representing from 3 to 5 different families. The workers will 'pitch' the family as to strengths, weaknesses and how their family could best meet the needs of this child.
It is thought that this Red File Staffing 'could' occur around Thanksgiving. Of course, that is if everything goes PERFECTLY. I doubt we would have any final answers until closer to Christmas.
Then IF we are selected, we could start slow visitations with the girl... working up to her moving in probably around Summer. When the children are older, the transitions are much slower to ensure less disruptions.
Pray that I can be patient. (seriously!)

What a great Christmas gift that would be! What better way to celebrate the birth of the Savior than good news of a new addition?
May God bless you with this. I will pray for you all.

I can understand the stress/excitement. My brother and his wife signed up in FL to be foster parents. Within 2 days of being approved, the state dropped off 2 young ones at their front door (1 was only 6m old). Well, a year or so later, the mom had anotehr baby that my brother got as well. My brother ended up adopting all 3 kids and has had them several years.
I know it's a long, drawn out process, but good luck.

I should have clarified. We have 4....here is the pattern.
I had a Varicocele, so I had surgery but was still infertile.
9 Boy, was invitro-fertilization, two fertilized eggs implanted, one took and stuck
From the invitro meds she got PCOS....cysts growing on her ovaries.
Then did invitro twice more.....nothing happened. So we tried ixy (sp) where they force fertilization by injected sperm into egg, cultivating it, then after it starts to split, they re-implant it. She got pregnant, lost it within 8 weeks.
Tried unfreezing the other 4 that were fertilized....nothing happened.
Then opportunity happened to adopt from a relative of a friend. So that is my first girl.
She is now 6 years old. We were there at birth, and actually the woman moved out to our area and stayed with family about 3 months before birth. So we were there for all doctor appts, birth, etc. It was private.
Then when my girl was 2 months old, my wife was really sick and she went to the dr...and found out she was pregnant!! So I got tested again and was still infertile! Go figure.....so here comes my 5 year old boy.
Then about 3 years ago..wife was late again, which is no big deal as she has PCOS, and BAMN find out she is pregnant again! (What the hell is she eating??) This time it was a girl. She is now 22 months.
By all tests I am still infertile and with PCOS she should not be able to get pregnant easily at all. Plus she has a tipped cervix, which should make things twice as hard.
BUT just to make sure we are all good, I got the big V!
BTW for all you wise asses...the last two are mine for sure....they look just iike me
I would like to think that this post clarifies things...but after re-reading it, I am sure it makes things more confusing!
