Is it possible to build decent legs from just cycling?
If so I might ditch the squats.

I mountainbike like crazy. I think it overdevelops the quads.. I have to do a zillion squats to balance things out!

To those posting pics of cyclists, you fkn noobs, they squat too. They all have hectic weights programs + bike time.

Plus the monster quads shown above are of a track cyclist who does sprints, not a road cyclist doing long distance stuff. They still have decent legs, but nothing crazy, and would still be considered skinny for someone bodybuilding.
This is a general trend though, distance running/cycling= smaller legs, less weight; sprinting/track cycling= monsterous legs.

IMO, It depends on genetics. My bro and I rode a lot back in the day (250 miles a week). He had more thigh definition then I did when we were riding. I haven't been on a bike since Spring (burned out) and I've been hitting the weights since then. I feel that my legs have more mass to them, but they're not nearly as toned as they used to be. I'm going to get back on the saddle this winter. I miss those cool morning rides and grabbing a pastry with some coffee/espresso. I can live without the racing.
Phil, Giordana bibs are the way to go!
Chris Hoy is a beast. He squats and rides, but he specializes in the velodrome and sprints.

With spd's you get a good all around leg work out. Biking is the only exercise that has forced my calves to grow

Kool, I might only squat twice a week low volume and do about 20 miles a week biking, there's lots of hills in the UK.
Does 20 miles sound enough for starting off? Note I haven't done cardio in a long time.

I see a lot of old mountain bike guys with big enough legs. Nothing crazy like a bodybuilder, but developed enough for most of the people on this site. I don't think they are out squatting like crazy either.
