Are we gonna act like Texas didn't jump over Bama to take the #2 spot?

bet it feels good for a texas fan but in all reality it doesn't matter till the SEC Championship Game. That will ultimately decide who gets in.

Meh doesn't matter. Texas has looked very impressive lately though, they actually look like the team everyone expected to see this year. They keep playing like this and I think they actually have a shot at winning the BCS Championship game against Florida or Bama.

I've been saying Texas should be #1 for weeks. No surprise they jumped Bama with their bye, though. I figured they would.

Wouldn't shock me at all if this happens. The top 3 spots are just kind of a 'flavor of the week' thing right now.

Doesnt matter brah cause Texas will be in the top 2 and has the easiest path of all top 3 teams to the NC game.

SEC homer here.... Texas is showing fewer weaknesses than either Bama or florida.... Allbeit against inferior competition. I don't think they are the #2 team in the nation, but I think they should be after alabama in the polls. Florida at 3 for their semi-resurgence as of late against a struggling georgia and awful vandy

This. Unless Florida, Alabama lose before the SEC champ game, and Texas somehow collapses in one game, the NC game is basically set in that it will be either Bama or Florida vs Texas. But this was expected at the beginning of the season I thought.

Because even though USC lost to Oregon and Washington, Oregon just lost to Stanford. The media has a short memory. The biggest upset to happen recently is the one that's remember the most.
System does in fact, blow.

Basically no way around this.
Texas doesn't look like they'll lose, and as long as Bama/UF stay undefeated before the SEC CG, Texas/SEC champ is pretty much etched in stone.

A CHALLENGER APPEARS!
'Bama loses before the SEC Title game and then proceeds to beat Florida in the SEC Title game which puts TCU in the Championship game to make it Texas vs TCU for the National Title.
discuss?

Like I said, as long as neither SEC team loses before the SEC CG, then it's Texas/SEC Champ.
Obviously if one of them loses, the scenario can change.

yea, Id say it's set in stone however, I kinda want both florida and 'bama to lose and TCU to jump into the national championship game just to show how stupid the BCS system is. I'm all for a BCS Buster. Of course, I would be cheering for Texas to destroy them, (which they would)

I don't want to watch a ****ty BCS NC game just to see the BCS NOT CHANGE, since they have like a 6 year bajillion dollar deal with the networks.
And if it had to happen, I'd like to see Texas drop a game, and TCU face the SEC Champ.

There is a reason why schools like TCU and Cinci aren't qualified for an automatic bid to the NC game. Those conferences don't produce the kinda money the other big conferences do plus they aren't traditionally powerhouses.
Big 12
Big 10
Pac 10
SEC
ACC
Big East
The rest are basically screwed. Feels good man.
This is from wikipedia.
Quote:
* The top two teams are given automatic berths in the BCS National Championship Game.
* The champion of a BCS conference (ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-10, and SEC) is guaranteed an automatic BCS bowl bid.
* The highest ranked champion of a non-BCS conference will receive an automatic berth if:
o It is ranked in the top twelve, or
o Ranked in the top sixteen and higher than at least one BCS Conference champion.
* No more than one such team from Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference shall earn an automatic berth in any year.
* A special case is made for independent Notre Dame, which receives an automatic berth if it finishes in the top eight.
* No more than two teams from any one conference may receive berths in BCS games unless two non-champions from a BCS conference finish as the top two teams in the final BCS standings in which case they will meet in the National Title Game while their conference champion will play in their conference's BCS bowl game.
* The third-ranked team will receive an automatic berth if it has not already received one, and if it is a member of a BCS Conference (and provided that its conference has not already earned two automatic berths), if there's room.
* If the third-ranked team did not require a berth using the previous provision, then the fourth-ranked team will receive an automatic berth if it has not already received one, and if it is a member of a BCS Conference (and provided that its conference has not already earned two automatic berths), if there's room.
After the automatic berths have been granted, the remaining berths, known as "at-large" berths, are filled from a pool of teams who are ranked in the top fourteen and have at least nine wins. The actual teams that are chosen for the at-large berths are determined by the individual bowl committees.
If fewer than 10 teams are eligible for selection, then an at-large team will be any Football Bowl Subdivision team that is bowl-eligible, has won at least nine regular-season games and is among the top 18 teams in the final BCS Standings, though any at-large team ranked in top 14 will be guaranteed a bid over at-large teams ranked lower than 14th. If fewer than 10 teams are eligible after expanding the at-large pool to 18 teams, then the at-large pool will continue to be expanded by four additional positions in the BCS Standings until 10 or more teams are eligible. No team ranked lower than 14 has used this rule to earn an at-large bid (though, several teams ranked lower than 14 have received a bid for winning their conference), as the rule was not in place in the early years of the BCS. Had it been in place since 1998, one team would have received a bid under the rule (#18 Syracuse in 2001).[5]
Unless their champion is involved in the BCS National Championship game, the conference tie-ins are as follows:
* Rose Bowl - Big Ten champ vs. Pac-10 champ
* Fiesta Bowl - Big 12 champ
* Orange Bowl - ACC champ
* Sugar Bowl - SEC champ
The Big East champion takes one of the remaining spots.
This year, the BCS Selection Sunday is scheduled for Sunday, December 6, 2009.
