Squat - Flexibility Issues

Hey guys.
I am getting back into weight training but i am having trouble with my flexibility.
I can only get down 1/2 the way thats with no bar, and stretching before.

Rippetoe says the only way to get flexibile is to squat, so im wanting to know what should i do.
In terms of weight would more weight within my range work well with my flexibility?
cheers

Get down in the squat position a few times a day every day, holding that position for 30 seconds if you can at a time.

Also stretch your hamstrings a fair bit.

Stretch your muscles everyday after your workout for a good amount of time and your flexibility should increase over the weeks.
