Hammer Strength Decline Machine Giving Me Collar Bone Pain!

Last week I decided to do hammer strength decline machine as my chest exercise for 8 reps with 250 lbs on it without any problems. Earlier this week I was using the same weight as last week on that machine and had collar bone pain in my 6th rep and had to stop even though my muscles felt they could do more. This was with 250 lbs on the machine once again. About 4 years ago I had the same type of pain with the hammer strength decline machine while going heavy but 2 years ago I didn't have that problem. I don't have this problem with barbell flat benching, dumbbell flat benching or the regular hammer strength chest press, just the decline one. I don't know if it's because of my form or if I'm seated too high or too low on that machine. I just can't train on that machine anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions on why I get that pain with that machine?

I notice substantial discomfort on heavy declines in my rotator cuff... not collar bone. It's the same as doing heavy dips... lots of strain on the rotators. I stick to inclines and flat stuff for the most part when going heavy and haven't look back (or have wanted to since). If you're getting unexplained pain from that angle... why continue? there are plenty of great alternatives.
