I think The Wire is easily the most under rated show of all time.

Just started watching it through Netflix. It's basically a show set in Baltimore about a bunch of cops that are trying to take down a drug operation. I've only scratched the surface though.

you can't REALLY cliffs this show, you have to watch from season 1 episode 1 through season 5. YOU HAVE TO. it's the rules (fyi).
but to get the idea, it's a show based in baltimore (mostly the projects). it deals with drug kingpins, street level dealers, good and bad cops, corrupt politicians, etc. each season is a different case/theme. too many good characters to describe.
season 1: drugs
season 2: the harbor, durgs
season 3: drugs (with increased presence of politics)
season 4: education, drugs, politics
season 5: drugs, newspaper (Baltimore Sun), politics
