can you take protein powder on a plane?

I have to go on this stupid trip for school that I'm totally not excited about at all and I was wondering if I would be able to take some protein powder in a tupperware or something on my suitcase on a plane (not in my carry on)? I don't know what all the restrictions are except the 3.4 (?) oz fluid one, but what about powder? Will they think it's crack or something and not let me take it? And I'm not sure if I would be able to buy any where I'm going.

I already have to put up with eating out at restaurants I don't want to go to and people in my class that I don't like and I'm trying to cut right now.

I did it and it was fine..as long as it is in your suitcase and you can't access it.

HEY i'm from close to Pittsburgh! That's where i fly out of. The tsa there are stickler jerks. One time I took some protein and other supps in plastic containers and they called me on it but eventually let me take it. What I try to do now is stock up on samples in the mini packets and take those. Never been questioned when they are in the packages.

If you could buy a small container and leave it in it's marked container, I would think that would be best.

I went on my honeymoon in June and put some "personal" stuff in my suitcase and ziptied the zippers and all of that jazz and the airline people cut off the zip ties and left a note that they had gone through our bag...I'm not sure what they would have done had I had unmarked food items in there. *shrug*

You may want to bring some drained tuna packets instead or try to find other sources of protein other than a powder form?

Or, just call the airline and ask :P

Yes, I just went on a trip and I packed 4 sandwich baggies of protein in the suitcase I checked. I labeled them, just in case, but there was no problem at all. My husband kept joking that they were going to strip search me if they found all my "chocolate *******". LOL!

I took mine in my carry-on, and took a scoop of it out of the tub on the plane and mixed with a yogurt in a tupperware container..I think the lady next to me was a little confused!! It was akward. You can definitely take it.

I've taken my powdered supps in carry-on as well. No troubles.

The only trouble I get are with my hot rollers, which have to always be taken out and inspected because they look like explosives on the x-ray scanners.

Well you can in Australia. I had about 10 baggies of protein powder in my carry on luggage and they didn't say anything about it.

I agree with everyone else - protein powder = ok on a plane.

What ISN'T ok though is peanut butter. I took a jar with me on the plane and they had to throw it out. I guess the sort of liquidy consistancy (it was natural) made it be more like a 'liquid' than a solid.

I guess pb would be ok if you only took 2 oz or whatever it is they say to bring - I just tried to bring the whole container.
