Arrow Close calls in the gym?

I was doing Incline Press and had 185 on the bar on my last set ( no spotter.)

I get to the 6th rep and get it up about 80% to lock out and it slowly starts coming down, at this point I go into survival mode lifted my back up off the bench and pushed with my entire body and amazingly locked it out.

I saw an older guy laughing at me, atleast I saved some dignity from not screaming like a bitch.

About to bench press, but forgot to take off or add weights on one side, attempted to lift, one side flies off unexpectedly, drop bar on my head. I think I got a minor concussion from that.

I saw a guy do this, he fell down to his knees though with like 325 on the bar and then he fell back.

I grabbed my spine and knees just watching it, was brutal.

I was benching my last set and was about 5 reps in. I was exhaling as I was pushing up and my lips got too close together and made a super loud farting/weedeater/honda civic noise. I started laughing at the stupid noise I just made and down came the bar. So there I lay under the bar laughing like an idiot until I could calm down to push it up to the emergency bar rests.

I was doing a bench press and was lying down on a towel so that I wouldnt get sweat on the bench. I was at my last rep, but I couldn't get it out and it slowly started coming down. I panicked and used the towel to slide my body forward and let the bar fall behind my head. ****in scary.

Was resting inbetween my sets and some Manlet was trying to bench 135, I was watching out of the corner of my eye and he went down for his 5th rep and the weight slowing started dropping. I ran over and gave him a lil push to get it back on the bench. He was embarresed, but i hold him dont sweat it, but next time i might not b here to save ur ass

Was on incline bench. 205, on 8th rep. Thought I could finish it out.. .got half way but failed. Had too much pride to yell out for spotter and instead of rolling it down towards my torso I decided it to throw it backwards. Nearly snapped both of my pinkies both in half.

I was bench pressing alone in a gym in my fraternity house, not a lot of weight, but no spotter, and last rep of last set.

Came down, but it didn't want to go back up. It pinned me underneath it, and i rested there for a bit, then i tried to roll it down my chest over my hips to my legs.

Got stuck on my waist, didn't go any further. Then i started tilting it back and forth to see if i could walk it over my hips, and the weights slid off of one end with a crash! Immediately, the bar flipped up, as the weights on the other side dragged it down and it cartwheeled into the wall with a loud thunk.

I sat up, reracked the plates, put the bar back on the bench, and headed to the showers on my floor. Fortunately, not using the weight collars saved me an embarassing rescue.

Doing pulls up on my last set trying to get that last one out cheeks clenched and ripped the loudest fart I've been able to produce this entire year. There was no smell though just a lot of air but I was laughing so hard I had to take a break for a few mins.

Yeah, it was only like 155 or something, i was 18 at the time. Not anywhere near heavy to crush me or crack ribs, but heavy enough to make a 'super weighted sit-up' impossible.

raffing is a good tension reliever and yes you got lucky too. I hate that feeling I need to bust out a laugh when lifting, so I try to block out what's happening around me

just a couple of weeks ago.

i was in the school gym, nobody else was there and i was on my last set of bench, 225x5 (im 5'7 160). i usually have a spotter when i go >215 but nobody was there that could so i figured i would give it a shot alone. i got to 4 and i knew the next rep would be trouble but i decided to go for it anyways. come down then veryyyy slowly start going back up. i barreelyyyy got it to the rerack spot then reracked it and set up. then i saw that the whole time the old gym monitor lady was watching me with a deep scowl from the hallway to make sure i didnt bust my head open or something. i gave her the thumbs up and she rolled her eyes and said something like blah blah blah i was waiting for you to fail so i could come over there and give you a spot. i told her that if i did fail i was just gonna let it rest on my chest til i regained the strength. later on she bitched at me because we have to check out certain weights (in my case this time 20lb dumbbells for laterals) but she wasnt in there and her young lackey was like "its okay you can just take them i dont need to see your i.d." when i came back to turn it in the old lady was like "UM SIR NEXT TIME YOU HAVE TO CHECK THOSE OUT". havent gone back since (not because of the situation but just havent had time)

ive gotten stuck a few times under the weights as i benched, back when i worked out alone in my garage, but i didnt use clips so i was just able to push up one side of the bar so the weights slid off. but i was working out in my garage while home alone once and got stuck under my smith machine while benching. i thought i had one more rep in me but apparently i didnt, and i missed racking it on the way down. i seriously thought i was gonna die, i was sitting there for a few minutes trying to prevent it from crushing my airway. eventually i was able to channel my fear of death and i was able to get the bar back up enough so i could just slide off the side of the bench. felt bad man

A few weeks ago some idiot in my gym did the old take all the weight off one side first trick, bar flipped over and came about 3" away from cracking me on the head. I just looked at him and said "Are you f***ing serious?". He quickly reracked everything and took off.

Yeah when you come close to a really bad situation like that you can't help but laugh.

I laughed a little bit once I got the weight racked in relief.

I seriously had a massive adrenaline pump, I'm positive that's the only way I got it up.
