Is there a site out there that helps you build a PC from scratch?
i.e a site like how you customize your PC with dell
But.. with every component you need, fans, the case, sockets whatever. And the site will tell you if it's all compatible/will fit or not.
Then you go out and buy all the pieces and put it all together yourself.
I'd rather do it this way as there is a lot of stuff to know when building a pc, whether they all are compatible, if you miss somethign out, whether it will fit in the case etc.
Any sites for this?

Go to www.hardforum.com
Huge forum with plenty of people willing to help you if you have any questions.
I started going there back in 2006 when I built my current computer. Helped me a lot.

I'm looking for something like
Step 1) I choose a case
Step 2) I choose a mobo
Step 3) I choose the gfx card (but it will only let me choose from a selected few compatible with the mobo and that will fit in the case)
Step 4) .. etc
...
Step 12) I choose a CD drive (but will only let me choose compatible ones for the case)
EVERY component I'm looking for, that lets me customise every part.

Newegg.com is the best place to build a computer from scratch but it doesn't do exactly what you want. Its easy as hell to get stuff that will go together though. Just start out by picking a processor. lets say you pick the very popular intel core i7. Right in the title of the product, after the speed, is the phrase "LGA 1377" which is the socket type. Now just go to the motherboard section and click on intel motherboards, then click on LGA 1377 motherboards and sort the results by most reviews. Then pick whichever one is in your price range and doesn't have terrible reviews.
Once you have the motherboard go to the specs and the parts that match up. Lets say the mobo you picked says "slots = 4x240pin". That means it can take 2 sticks of 240 pin ram. And then its says "DDR2 1366" that is the speed it takes. Then you just click on ram, 240 pin, ddr2 1366, sort by most reviews, and pick one thats in your pricerange.
Keep doing this for every component and your done. If you cant learn how to pick out the proper components your going to have a HELL of a time putting all the pieces together.

THIS also. After your done picking everything out just post all the parts you picked and ask if youll have any problems putting them together and they will tell you if something wont fit.

or skip all that **** and go to somewhere like ibuypower where you can pick a model then change parts depending on what you want more of less of, and they test it and then ship it?
