    DOUCHEEEE

Umm no fail, every single car technology worth having was invented by European or Jap manufacturers:

    -Automatic seatbelts by BMW

-Bucket seats and ABS by the French

    -Disc brakes by Jaguar

-MacPherson struts by the French division of Ford

-Chapman struts by the Lotus founder

    -Active Yaw Control by Mitsubishi

    -Crumple zones by Mercedes

-Lane departure warning system first used by Nissan

-Saab first standard use of seatbelts

-Side impact protection beams by Volvo

    -Hill holders by Subaru

-AWD in production cars by Dutch Spyker and in modern guise by Audi which used it heavily in the 1980's

-Turbos were first used in production cars by Saab

-Superchargers my Mercededes, Fiat, Alfa, Bugatti

Americans only claim to fame with regard to cars is the first mass produced car (model T), the most unefficient engines, ****ty solid axle Mustangs and automatic transmissions because they are too lazy to shift manually.

Hell even then the only decent auto boxes are DSG by Volkswagen, Tiptronic by Porsche, SMG by Ferrari and BMW

are you talking about the American cars who are owned by Japanese companies or the Japanese cars who are manufactured by a joint venture between other foreign and American companies?

You said people only buy Mercs and BMW's and other European/foreign cars because they are materialistic douchebags.

I pointed out that nearly every technology worth having in a car for safety and performance was invented/popularised by a European or Japanese manufacturer.

When I quoted u it didn't say anything about quality, as for quality which I'll address

    http://jalopnik.com/5381540/cruise-c...s-largest-ever
^14 million Ford's with cruise control modules that could ignite the car

    http://www.lemonauto.com/complaints/...ord_taurus.htm
^235000 cars with windscreen wiper issues, 467000 with rear suspension that could blow out the rear tires

    http://www.lemonauto.com/complaints/..._econoline.htm
^Ford commercial vehicles with fuel rail and crankshaft issues

    http://www.theage.com.au/national/ma...0327-9dr1.html
    ^Aussie Fords with brake issues

    http://www.reuters.com/article/domes...53D31P20090414
^1.5m GM cars recalled due to fire risk

    http://www.lemonauto.com/complaints/...onte_carlo.htm
^Monte Carlos with improper wheel bolt torque designed

Not to mention all the times we've heard Ford and GM fail to recall faults, when Toyota had a douchebag customer who couldn't stop his car and crashed at high speed they straight up recalled 4million cars for a fix.

I mean face it, America is bigger and better in many things, military prowess, economy, pop culture and other things but American cars suck

Those are nice cars. But, for $22,000 I got a new G8 GT. If I was going to get an import (yes, I realize my car is made in AUS) I would get an M3 or M5. Actually, NVM, I like the CTS-V better. America has had its share of fuk-ups with automobiles, but really is making some great cars now. The will have to continue to evolve, and inprove in order to shake the American = **** stigma.

370Z weights 3232 lbs and makes more power and revs higher to make up for lower torque.

Mustang GT weighs 3533 and makes less power, not a whole lot more torque.

America has had its share of fuk-ups with automobiles, but really is making some great cars now. The will have to continue to evolve, and inprove in order to shake the American = **** stigma.
True, the CTS is nice and the ZR1 is extremely quick... hopefully GM and Ford will start to make nicer and lighter economy cars which actually look good to take on the VW Golfs, Audi A3 and A4s, BMW 3s and Merc C Class because Euro and Jap economy and average family cars are still better than Americas offerings.

If more manufactuers build quality cars the standard will keep rising and they'll only get better and better so I'm rooting for GM and Ford.

Strong choice on the G8/Commodore they're a neat car, Holden invested over $1bn aud to develop it.
