Just want to know how the R&P feels about Climate Change/Global Warming
I added global warming specifically at the end because even though temperatures can vary in both ways due to the effects of pollutants in the atmosphere, rising temperatures appear to be more of a threat than falling ones.

a real scientific threat/issue that needs to be addressed in some way or manner. (its possible that no action is required, its possible that we need to act quickly and swiftly. i have seen convincing arguments for both sides)
Politically and in mainstream it has been turned into a ****ing circus where no one cares about facts and its only a leverage issue for power and money.

I voted for the last option. I don't know the exact answer and there are so many contradicting studies that it would be crazy if I just picked one without knowing what I was talking about. What I do know is that the government (spearheaded by former VP Al Gore) is using global warming as an excuse to increase taxes and gain more control over the private sector. Regardless of global warming being true or not, the government is full of corrupt pieces of ****.

Well, human beings definitely have a significant impact on the planet. Our species has altered it like almost no other. There's no denying that.

Sounds about right. Add into the mix those who lack the mental capacity to analyze science separately without bringing the entire ****fest of politics into it, and the situation just became 10x worse as far as actually dealing with it.

This is the only KNOWN fact in the whole argument. The rest of it is still debatable, especially considering that we are now ten years into a cooling trend, as described by one of the top UN scientists on Global Warming.

There has obviously been major climate change before during human history, eg. the end of the last Ice Age. Humankind managed to survive that, I'm sure we will continue to do so.

I picked the third option, that it isn't a threat to our species because I doubt humans will go extinct from this. But many other species very well could go extinct because of environmental destruction.

I absolutely will agree that it won't cause us to go extinct or anything like that. However this doesn't mean that it won't cause problems. Keep in mind we are also talking about changing the range of certain disease vectors, mainly mosquitos. Additionaly there are issue with changes in precipitaion patterns that can cause problems for agriculture. For example here in Indiana there has been a trend for the summers to not be as hot and the winters not as cold which is good for farming. On the other hand though our precipitation patterns having been changing with the yearly averages dropping. To make matters worse more of the percipitation we are getting has been coming in the spring raising the risk of flooding in the spring and the risk of drought in the summer. Both of these effects on precipitation have slowly started causeing some issues when it comes to farming. Keep in mind that the midwest and plains states are feeding a huge number of people, so it is an issue.
Either way though, the media and politics have completely distorted what is going on on both sides of the subject.

Whether you agree or disagree with politics of handling the issue, how do you deny the issue exists?
It's like denying that America has an obesity problem lol.

^Because numerous studies have shown that the Earth's temperature has not increased at all, except with proportion to the sun's temperature rising? Every time the Earth's temperature rises, so does the sun's and the rest of the solar system's.

I don't disagree, but from the choices listed in the poll I selected the one that I think (whatever it's worth) is most likely. I agree that changing weather patterns are a big concern.

Even though it is true that the sun's output has an affect on the earth's climate, the solar output has been decreasing since the mid 1970's while the average global temperature continues to rise. Also, the entire solar system is not warming. Certain planets or moons might be, but since they have completely different climate systems you can't just assume that their warming has the same cause as the earth's.

This was my choice as well, for the same reasons.

Perhaps I should have reworded it. I meant that humanity would be in peril, but not necessarily doomed to extinction.

I don't believe either because humans have the ability to adapt.
I do believe the status quo is very problematic , but I also think science and technology are the answer.
If some undebatable issue comes out which forces us to stop burning coal for energy we'd stop.
So I don't think we would ever be DOOMED TO EXTINCTION from this issue

I feel as though I cannot judge whether or not we are responsible, seen convincing arguments both ways.
I do feel it's better to be safe than sorry.

We should be focusing on all forms of technological growth not trying to bring ourselves back to nomadic hunter gatherers.
