Why is this diet not standard?
Everyone who has every tried it knows it is insanely good, why has it not become a standard?
It works so well, I would expect to see stuff like keto bread, but its not happened and I cant understand why. This diet is clearly so much better than your standard low fat diet I just dont get it.

very interesting topic here... There are so many diets plastered all over the TV that dont work yet the one that does work for most people stays hidden in the dark? Doesn't make sense. Personally I don't know if keto works or not yet. Haven't experienced it, but I have noticed a slight change in the way I feel physically. ( this is only day 2, no real results as of yet )

Make meatloaf minus ketchup/breadcrumbs... cut it into slices... sandwich a couple pieces of bacon and some cheddar between two slices of meatloaf!

OP makes a valid point. There ARE low carb breads etc out there, but the grain industry has already run a successful smear campaign against atkins, thereby reducing public reception of low carb diets. Usually if you say "keto" to someone, their first response is "ketoascidosis" the state where your blood becomes poisonous.
No one wants to understand, and people are not willing to do their own research. We live in a culture of primarily idiots. Have you ever seen idiocracy? Because that's where we're heading.

Like Skelooth says, it's hard for big business to make a profit on keto. The mark-up on salmon and spinach is very low, while there's a massive profit margin on a ready made low fat pasta dish with 3% salmon and 5% spinach.
Also, of course, the medical establishment has been banging on about the food pyramid and how low fat is the way to go for so long that it's really embarrassing to have to turn round and say "Uh, we were wrong, fat is good, sugar is bad". Which is why they will say things like "Eat oily fish, whole eggs, fresh meat, avocado, olive oil, coconut oil, dark chocolate, almonds, brazil nuts, flaxseeds, as part of your healthy low fat diet."
65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs = keto.

lol so true.
I can't speak for other parts of the world, but in the USA especially everything we see hear and consume is a consequence of lobbying in Washington. This country has been subsidizing it's agriculture sector and "pampering" big farming for a very long time as a means of keeping food prices low. The problem now is that the wheat industry is enormous and have the same type of political power as the oil industry or unions have up on the hill. I'm not sure they'd be too keen about the truth of how their products effect our bodies coming to light.
The other part is sustainability, meat is much more costly to produce and does not store as well.
The final part is that the diet industry WANTS us all to fail. If everyone found a diet that worked and lost weight, where would jenny craig, weight watchers, south beach, etc make their money? They wouldn't be able to.
