Just got an iPhone. (2k reps for assistance)
So I know that they have apps that are workout related. Does anyone use one? Some are supposed to have logs and stuff along with calorie counters or something.
Any recommendations?

Yea its called mynetdiary if you werent able to find it. It is so-so, very basic and takes a long time to put the info in. The main idea of it is to find out how many calories your would need to burn to lose weight at your weight/calorie intake.
Its cool to know you can do this through your phone and would be good for eating at a resturant or something but logging your workouts/diet on microsoft excel or something would be much more effective and fast.

I don't really need something to show me exercises. I know how to do the exercises I do. I'm more looking for something that would help me keep track of my lifts, their increases, etc. along with a diet thing so I can record what I'm eating throughout the day.

dig deep fitness. My friend has it and it looks pretty cool. You can enter your sets and reps and weight on all your different exercises. It sure looked easier than my little notepad and a pen lol

The iFitness one was pretty good, they have a solid list of excersizes you can track.

iFitness is pretty good...has its downsides but what app doesn't?
There are several fitness apps for the iPhone, some are good, some suck, I think there's a dedicated category in the App Store called Health and Fitness (?) so you can look at those as well.
[Edit: Can't post links, less than 30 posts, but if you google "ifitness" you can find info that way]Review from The Apple Blog:

The personal trainer app has enjoyed a lofty position on the Top Paid charts in the iTunes store, and I wanted to find out why. I’d been disappointed before, so I hoped that iFitness might restore my faith, and get me back in the gym.
From the start, things were looking up with iFitness. The UI, while nothing special, was clean, simple, and dialed-down, which strikes me as appropriate for an application that I’ll be using at the gym in between exercises. From the home screen, you can access individual exercises, your custom workout, pre-set routines, and your log from the bottom navigation bar.
On the Exercises screen, you can browse by categories organized according to muscle group. You can also search for an exercise by individual muscle, or browse the list in its entirety alphabetically. One of the key features of iFitness is the ability to add and edit custom exercises to the already extensive list that comes with the app. Clicking on an exercise shows its details on the home screen, initially displaying just an image series showing you what to do. You can press a button at the top to display text instructions, add to your workout, or add to your log.
My Workout displays your custom workout, which you can build by adding exercises from their information screens. You can also add dividers to separate muscle groups or sets. My Workout adds a degree of customizability that makes iFitness a must-have for more advanced users. The only downside is that you can only create one workout, so the list could get unwieldy if you want to keep a variety of custom routines.
The preset routines are good starting points for novice users. Each has an extensive description to tell you just what the workout is meant to do, and a list detailing number of sets and repetitions.
iFitness has definitely found a place as my app of choice for workout management, since the ability to add custom exercises and your own routine is crucial to my fitness habits. At only $1.99, it’s a steal for beginners and more advanced users alike.
|
According to Apptism, it's only $1.99 (I think that's what I paid as well), but there's always the option of jailbreaking as well.

I use iFitness also. Works great. Since I just had to take my iPhone in because the touch screen stopped working I would not recommend the jailbreak.

don't jailbreak... all of these retards who are telling you to jailbreak are just taking away from the developers. As myself being the graphic designer for a handful of apps, you are discouraging developers from actually innovating new ideas for new apps. The developers do not get paid by apple, but merely make money off of you downloading and paying for the app. So what happens when you don't pay for the app? Well then they find other jobs, and then you get stuck with **** apps.

ive tried them all and I would recommend gym buddy if you already know what you're doing... it'll take you 10minutes or so to set up all your workouts but after that its very quick to log weight/reps for each exercise. it shows your last workouts info and automatically sets a countdown timer for your next set. even graphs long term progress for each exercise.
for calorie tracking livestrong is free and easy to use. it syncs with a free account which you set up on the website so easy to track/set up meal info

I would advise you NOT to jailbreak your iPhone. No, it doesn't void the warranty because you can restore it back to normal now, but its a pain in the ass and will make your iPhone lag like a mother****er. There is also an app called Barz or something like that and you put in an amount of weight and it tells you exactly how many plates and what plates to put on the bar. Good for Oly lifting and heavy lifting.
DO NOT BUY MUSCLEGAINER APP.

I use GymTrack. It seems like it gave me the more freedom to add exercises and such than any other program I tried. It doesn't have a calorie counter, but you can set up your workout beforehand, and if somebody's using your machine/bench/whatever, you can always switch it on the fly. Quite convenient.

Fitness builder has the best workouts IMO
It's great for the beginner because it's got so many workouts and will help you shake your routine up if you want ,
and also lets you build your own routine with the exercises you do now,
extremely easy to keep track of your workouts
Includes rep counters and statistics, plus a great feature that lets you track your progress (every measurement you can think of, tells your BMI etc) and supports pics as well
Wouldn't **** around with menshealth, fitnessbuilder has everything it has and alot more. MH does look better but that doesn't really matter
Ifitness is more basic (and cheaper) but still has comprehensive list of exercises etc
As far as protein and calorie trackers go, LiveStrong is the best. It has the best database by far and is the easiest to use (i've tried about 6 different ones) and includes progress bar to show how you're doing for the day as far as protein and calories go
Most of the other apps are along the lines of entering your weight and graphing it as time goes by, or getting more fit (going from being able to do 10 pushups to 100, run a 10k, calculate your period etc)
I would buy Livestrong and FitnessBuilder
