Sound is nothing but vibrations through a medium. A falling tree would still make those vibrations. So sound would exist without anyone needing to hear it.

^^^ Sound is a descriptive term of sound waves. It's not actually a thing, its a description of a process. All something has to do to make "sound" which is to make available the process of interpretation vibrations is to vibrate those waves on a frequency we can hear.

What you just said is like me saying that Infrared does not count as a "light" because we can't visibly see it.
