A little flattering. :)
It seems in my group of friends, family, and friends of family I've become the go-to person for all workout and nutrition tips. Even people I barely know will stop and ask me questions about gyms, getting started, what to eat, etc. All because I'm made a chance in myself or a family member will talk about it to them. Craziness.
It's extremely flattering for me. First, I don't know all the answers, and I don't pretend to. But also, not even a year ago I had almost everyone questioning my every move. I've battled with people who thought I was going to die from going working out too much [6 days a week], or get extremely sick from 'not eating enough' [I eat between 1600-2000 calories a day, depending on the activity, on a vegan diet], or that I was simply going mad.
After all the fights with my immediate family over what I was doing, they are now sending people my way?!
It's just an awesome feeling. I don't really know when the tables turned, but it's way better then feeling like I need to defend my every move.
Now, if only I could get some of my immediate family to follow suit and get a more active lifestyle, I'd be set.

I enjoy fielding questions too, and agree that it IS flattering~it's nice that you are able to share your knowledge! That being said, "dick_nose" (lol) makes a point. You will eventually find yourself offering very brief responses, because you realize that your wasting your breath with the majority.

Haha that's really awesome, but I do agree with dick_nose_dwane as well. My sister is getting married in January and asked me how to get her high school body back. I told her exactly how, and she has worked out once in the 2 months since then and eaten worse than I've ever seen her eat in her life (and the only reason she worked out was because her "hot bod" roommate was going to show her how to workout, not that I hadn't offered many times or anything). Right after she asked me she started baking cookies and ate 3 or 4. But if people are actually listening to you then that's awesome! It's great to be able to help people out.

Yes it is flattering being asked by people you know how to 'get fit' but when you tell them what they have to do, and the work involved you KNOW that they won't be bothering

My favorite is when my mom or friends complain about how much they hate their bodies and want to lose weight, but then act all offended ("Are you saying I'm fat?") when I offer suggestions for small, easy changes that would make a difference.

Oh might be flattering now...but that will change.
Eat clean, lift you ass off and be consistent...I no longer waste my breath...

I sometimes give people tips, but just like others said..they don't necessarily listen. My sister is trying to lose weight and she was talking to me about exercise and diet. She said, "I want to lose weight, but I don't want to look like you." Gee...thanks! She was implying that she didn't want to be muscular like I am, but the thing is that being short and stocky runs in our family. She has big, thick legs...they are never going to be model skinny; which is what I think she is going for. Part of her problem is that she always aims for something that she cannot, and should not achieve.
Another one of my sisters went to the gym with me one day, and said that she wanted to get into shape again...when I asked her what exactly her "goal" is, she said I don't know. Then I asked, "Do you want a set plan/routine?" She said, "No," of course. I tried to put her on some machines and use free weights, but it was like she "refused" to learn anything. She wanted to improve her body and have more muscle tone, but she didn't want to put in any effort. So, now, like Kim said, most of the time I don't even waste my breath.

It's nice to have people at least give you the benefit of the doubt...but as others have said, most people want a quick fix, not a new way of life.
My dad constantly asks me to give him an "idea" of what to do, but I already know he won't commit to a healthy diet, he won't work out with free weights ("because they can injure you") and it would just be a huge waste of my time to write anything out for him.
My maid of honor has asked me about pointers and advice, but she has 2 kids under the age of 2 and her excuse is that she has no daycare. Then she proceeded to ask me if I had tried a colon cleanse to help me lose weight.

You might want to let your friend know that the gym is the best place to get "her" time. Almost all gyms (especially chains) have child care. It was my life saver after my son was born. I could even have a 30 minute shower!!

x2
Some gym child care can be a tad expensive. Talk to the manager. I had some old toys my son didn't play with anymore and asked the manager if they'd be interested in taking them off my hands. She offered me free care for them - I didn't even ask!!
I ended up with 2 months free care for a box of old toys!!
