MISC I'm donating my help to a Korean and a Vietnam War Vet. Feels good man.
A buddy of mine works for a company and received an email asking for people to donate their time on a weekend at the beginning of November.
There are 2 men (one if a veteran of the Korean War and the other is an veteran of the Vietnam War).
The email asks that people volunteer during a Saturday in November to go to each man's home and help with stuff like: Yard Work, some interior painting, help with some minor home repair, and maybe some moving of item, etc.
My buddy told me that no one volunteer and I stopped him in his tracks. I said "we're doing this." I think he was a little taken aback that I didn't need to be talked into it. Since their company has guys that can't step up, I called on a bunch of my friends.
We're going to fill my Tundra with guys/supplies and do this. We will spend the morning at one of the man's homes, and then the afternoon at the other's. We'll be exhausted by the end of the day-but we're going to try to make this a fun time.
These men deserve this.
Also, I contacted a contact at my company today to see if we were doing a Habitat for Humanity this year and I was told "no" because there wasn't anyone to organize it or set it up. I think this sucks so I think I'm going to take the reins on this and make it happen.
Just wanted to share. I'm actually excited to help and it feels good. It's not always about doing for ourselves. Most of the people on here on in pretty good shape, we could do a lot of good around vets homes, etc.
Just sharing...
