Wii Fit is anything but a workout. With the exception of in-place jogging, nothing lasts for more than 1-4 minutes (and no, there is no Tabata training in it).
As somebody joked, it likely is good for typical Wii players as it does involve getting up off the couch.
It is fun when you do it with kids and family. It would have been a riot in the college drinking days (Oh to have dance dance revolution or the Hula Hoop exercise in Wii fit in my Co-ed dorms...) but not a lot of purpose now.
BTW, with the typical body habitus on this forum, all of our Wii personas will come up looking fat on the monitor. this gets a bit annoying (Just checked, and I last played Feb. 23, 2009 so not a lot of long term enterainment by my experience).

Wii fit + drink = a lot of people falling off the wii fit board! Nearly sprained my darn ankle hula hooping after having a few!
But yeah, great for social gaming (goes for most wii games). But for a workout for an average person, well, it just isnt. Maybe if your activity levels are non existant you might get something out of it.
Wii sports boxing on the other hand, that can really get you sweating...[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No. 22

When is the Wii "Heavy Squat and Deadlift" version coming out?

Seriously I don't think its really a workout. Considering how the majority of kids today just sit on their butts watching tv and playing video games. I consider it a good tool to get them off their backside. Plus, I've laughed at few times as teenagers have struggled to do pushups on the board. I think the boxing does get you moving better if you get into it. I've seen quite a few kids as well as teenagers play all Wii games just sitting down which is so annoying.

Man.. Right when the Wii came out, I had the idea of making WiiLifting.. Even before wii fit or any kind of wii fitness came out.. I typed my idea out and everything too =(
I had plans of progression, tips on good form. and using actual weights with the sensor type thing. You score points and get your wiilifter big by lifting the weights lol.. get points and prizes or something.. calculate average calories, maybe have a diet journal
Might be stupid but it would be good for the average person to get into lifting.. It would probably have to be around bodybuilding exercises though

Wii Fit
I meant the Wii Fit, either as an alternative, or supplemental (additional) form to use for workouts.
Off course its not meant for serious bodybuilding...but a general "get up off the couch" use is not bad...anything for the sake of improving one's health.
The demographics show that the Wii, itself, is being used for senior citizens, and rehabilatation purposes, and yes for the younger generation to get up and get moving.
Any product or intent, idea to get one going with physical activity is good.
