Pterostilbene antioxidant

Pterostilbene is similar to the antioxidant resveratrol found in grapes and red wine, which also has anticancer activity. Pterostilbene is also present in grapes, but it is more abundant in blueberries. In the test tube and in animals that pterostilbene is capable of lowering cholesterol levels. If you would like to purchase a Resveratrol supplement.

Pterostilbene and colon cancer
A natural antioxidant abundant in blueberries called pterostilbene may help prevent colon cancer. Dr. Bandaru S. Reddy, chemical biologist at Rutgers University, Piscataway, New Jersey, induced colon cancer in 18 rats and then fed the animals a balanced diet, with or without pterostilbene (40 mg/kg of diet). At the end of the study, the nine animals that received pterostilbene supplement had 57-percent fewer pre-cancerous growths in the colon compared with the animals that were fed a balanced diet only. Pterostilbene also suppressed the growth of cells in the colon and inhibited certain genes involved in inflammation, both of which are considered risk factors for colon cancer.

Pterostilbene, an active constituent of blueberries, suppresses aberrant crypt foci formation in the azoxymethane-induced colon carcinogenesis model in rats.

Laboratory animal model studies have provided evidence that stilbenes, phenolic compounds present in grapes and blueberries, play a role in inhibiting the risk of certain cancers. Pterostilbene, a naturally occurring stilbene from blueberries, was tested for its preventive activity against colon carcinogenesis. Experiments were designed to study the inhibitory effect of pterostilbene against the formation of azoxymethane-induced colonic aberrant crypt foci (ACF) preneoplastic lesions in male F344 rats. The results of the study suggest that pterostilbene, a compound present in blueberries, is of great interest for the prevention of colon cancer.

Pterostilbene as antioxidant

The antioxidant effect of pterostilbene on streptozotocin-nicotinamide-induced diabetic rats has been assessed. The activity of superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione-S-transferase and reduced glutathione was significantly decreased in liver and kidney of diabetic animals when compared with normal control. There were significant improvements in these activities after treatment with pterostilbene at a dose of 40 mg kg(-1) for six weeks. The increased levels of lipid peroxidation measured as thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) in liver and kidney of diabetic rats were also normalized by treatment with pterostilbene. Chronic treatment of pterostilbene remarkably reduced the pathological changes observed in liver and kidney of diabetic rats. These results indicated the antioxidant property of pterostilbene

AWESOME!

-this stuff is THE best tasting supplement I have ever tasted imho.The powder does not smell that strong at all,I mixed it in 24 ounces of cold water.Gave it a good shake,it did foam up really good.I was busy with something else so it was allowed to stand for 10 min or so and that was all it needed anyway!

-I headed to the gym shortly after I was done with everything I needed to do and I could not wait to get my 1st set done.I did and then took my first taste of this............
real quick hint of creamsicle flavor and then it hit me!!! it really did taste just like something someone else said! JUST LIKE IT!! ...................
it is soooo refreshing and not heavy at all,it 100% does not even taste like any supplement at all.

- no pre workouts,stims or anything for this workout last night and I seemed to have pretty good endurance,nothing else really to report on results as far as recovery,etc etc....

I have some more and will add them in to my run w max p erformance which starts monday!!!

so tonight is my 1st training session with SizeOn.I know it says meant to be taken on training days,however Im thinking about exactly how I want to take it.Perhaps on some non training days as well.I am thinking about it as I only train 3-4 times a week right now.

-just had some white rice and corn with 3 grilled chicken breasts.Finishing up some stuff here for a little while then take care of a few things hopefully errand wise and then get ready for training.

tonights training session will be.....

free squats
stiff leg deads
donkey raises
Barbell curls
seated db hammer curls

the number of actual sets and warm ups along w some rest pauses will be included tomorrow.I train DC/yates style with a little of my own touch thrown in.

a whole lot of weight and EVEN more intensity! which is always a challenge and then some considering I always train so late!
