None. It's just going to be a **** ton of extra work and it's not going to help you get a job or get you paid more.

Just use your free time to chill and relax.

    I graduated with a B.S.E.E. last year.

minoring in something with an engineering major probably won't help you too much with job prospects later on in life (I could be wrong). i would just choose something you enjoy that's unrelated. or possibly consider math since that might help alongside your upper level engineering classes. my two cents.

    I'm in ChemE.

Am possibly considering MBA or MSF later in life, so although this may not help me in engineering, it could make that path easier and make me more qualified for admission?

Business minor OP. My buddies dad is a Senior Electrical Engineer/Project Manager (65yrs old)
He told me that when he was going to school, he was the only engineer minoring in business, and everyone thought he was a dumbass for doing it. He told me that it was the smartest thing he could have done, and it has helped him so much with moving up the corporate ladder.

Yea, for a business minor, I'm already taking Econ 1 and 2 for sequence free electives. And 300 level business classes count as concentration electives.

Thats 16 of the 24 credits. THe last 2 would be acct and stat as pre reqs for Fin301

I'd have plenty of time. I go to Drexel, not a typical schedule. I'm also pretty smart/lazy so normally don't put in as much time as others might. (3.75)

    Probably business admin...

but honestly, wtf at a minor in engineering?

There's no way I could do that at my school, it would have to take a lot of EXTRA classes not in the standard course load.

I only get a few electives and some technical electives in my faculty

don't you basically get a minor in math or physics or something if you do engineering?

Like others said. Just get your major and don't bother with the minor.

I started out as pre-med but hated my bio classes, went all the way to O Chem 2 (actually liked chem and didnt find it difficult) I think I qualify for a minor in Chem if not I need to take one more class. I switched to to Structural Engineering.

And, my dad is the CEO of a company, as much as people say it doesn't matter I've sat in on their hiring screening and every little thing on your resume that sets you apart from another person counts points for you. Example: Two guys both graduated from UF with Construction management degrees, one had a minor in Business Admin. and was an active member of economics club. It shows that you were capable of going beyond expectations, you were able to do what someone else could and do more, which is always good in a potential employer's eyes. It might not get you a higher starting wage but it definitely will make you look better when they are reviewing applications.

Most MBA programs love engineering grads, and I don't expect having a buisiness minor would make much of a difference in getting accepted.

I think a buisiness/economics/finance minor would mostly be usefull if you didn't plan to go into an actual technical position out of school, but rather a project manager or corporate planning type job. Probably most companies out there realize that engineers are bright and learn new skills well, so they will be able to give them an on the job "business" education if that is where there career path is headed.

I'm going to agree with a few others who have said that in most cases it isn't worth getting a non-technical minor as an engineer.

This. I talked to recruiters from a couple very large construction companies, and they all said the same thing.

They would rather pick the guy that has a 2.8 GPA and interned all 4 years over the guy with a 3.8 and only interned once.

This is completely true, experience = huge. The person who did end up getting the job as a new site manager had worked construction for 3 years and knew the ins and outs of dry wall and paneling so he was a shoe in. The point I was trying to make though, is that it is not "useless," every little thing counts for you.

Honestly it doesn't matter. If you don't have anything that interests you outside of engineering then I wouldn't take a minor. My friend's dad is a engineer for L3 and has given me a bit of advice since I'm in my second year of my engineering degree. He advised me to take what I wanted and do at least three years of internship.

I'm minoring in music btw since I really enjoy most of the classes. Plus if I somehow fail at life I can get a teaching degree and teach music.
