Got the H1N1 vaccine last week.. and I'm doing fine!
I work in a hospital and have a 9 month old baby at home. As hospital staff we were able to get it first, and free! If it were just me, I might have passed on it, but I didn't want the chance of being exposed and bringing it home to my son. Well worth it, IMO, for that reason.

The is the biggest reason why I hear people passing on it and using it as an excuse as, "oh I'm fit and fine so no biggie". The biggest benefit of the vaccine is that it helps curb the spread of the virus, if you get it, you potentially pass it along to someone who is already sick, or has a weakened immune system who may die from it. The more people who don't vaccinate because they feel it won't affect them the more it can spread.
H1N1 has already killed more children this year than regular flu did all last year in the US throughout the entire flu season and it's only the middle of October.
The "side affects" are horror stories sensationalize by the media so they have something to talk about. The same risks existed in most of the vaccines that we were are given as children (MMR, Polio) and we're all here now and are fine.

Source. That doesn't make any sense. Vaccines are weakened or dead samples of the viruses, so why would they contain mercury and "nasty carcinogens"? Do you even know what a carcinogen is?

No.
Im an ER RN and I wont be taking it. Every single time out of 4 times that I have gotten the regular flu shot Ive been sick for over a week with mild to moderate flu symptoms. So I dont like flu vaccines to begin with. Also, the people whove been getting H1N1 flu have mostly all been mild cases or no sicker than the regular flu. Ill take my chances with the swine flu. Im not worried about getting sick with it. Id rather get sick with the actual swine flu than get sick from something unknown by getting the vaccine.
The public's hysteria about this flu is comical and sad all in one. Like so many other issues I keep asking myself --> WHY is there so much 'officially sanctioned' fearmongering going on more and more over recent years !? Is fearmongering just trendy nowadays, or is there more to it?

I had to get it because I have RA and have a weakened immune system due to chemotherapy.
Plus, I work with viruses everyday, including H1N1 and 100's of others. So if there is a vaccine for it, I get it, because it's guaranteed if I contract any of them, I will get the worst of it.

What test did the doctor use to diagnose the patients you're referring to as swine flu cases? The doctor can not diagnose H1N1 based off a rapid influenza screen.
Edit, I'm just curious since PCR is the only confirmatory test for H1N1.
Double edit (lol), I think its a big deal because the spanish flu was also H1N1.

I figure if they make the army take it then it should be fine right? Wouldn't want to hurt the soldiers with something.
