Not hatin on you, but why do you need straps with a weight that you lifted with ease? Is your grip that weak?

thanks man, and yeah my arms are long as **** lol
thats sick to be messing with 635 @ your weight man, you must be able to jump like 6 feet in the air lol
yeah man
im bigger/stronger/leaner than he is, but aside from the cycle, its really only because i was much more consistent with my exercise selection, and did harder exercises, training them harder, while gaining more weight
and then when i dieted, i dieted harder
my brother gained and lost like 50-80lbs every year he has lifted (6+ years) he does a bulk and a cut every year, and so he spent a lot of time getting smaller/weaker, while i was just getting bigger/stronger.
but seeing the progress i have made inspired him to get as serious as possible, and he has been KILLING IT with his workouts/diet, doing everything as hard as he can, not making excuses
he has always been dedicated to lifting, has never taken breaks, has always tried to lift more weight each workout, even at the expense of form. but he didnt live for lifting like i did, because he had other things going on in his life.
he much more successful than me as a person because of that, and soon he will turn into the freak that i know he can be, because for the last few months he has as much or more drive than i have, and at least on par if not superior genetics
yeah, pretty much
i mean i can hold on to 635 with chalk etc, but i would rather never have my grip be the limiting factor
doesnt hold back my forearm development, doesnt hold back my strength in any way that matters to me, so its just what i do

Thanks for the detailed answer! I really appreciate it!
You hit the nail on the head with people won't recognize your hard work! I've out grown two shirt sizes, added a couple inches or more to my arms, added a lot to all my lifts, never skipped a scheduled workout and when I do get around people I know...if they say any thing at all, it's about my belly.
After reading your answer, I think my cutting thoughts are coming from how other people see me, instead of what I need to do right now......which is still add more beef and not waste time cutting. Pretty clear now. I'm glad I asked. Thank you very much. I'm off to try to add some more muscle....thinking about the end result, hopefully. Good Luck to ya man!

and the funny part was i started weights at late january 2010 weighing a lil heavier and sumo deadlifting 365 for a one rep max. look pretty much the same now, but I look more built. same measurements, maybe a little smaller. arms 16.75", legs went from 26.75" to 26", calves from 17.25" to 16ish"

still lol, if you were my height you would probably able to dunk with 1 leg
yeah, people just see the fat gain. they dont see the muscular progress. they just see what is MOST noticable RIGHT in front of them. so you can be huge and strong, but if you have a gut, your "the fat guy"
good luck with your goals man, just remember everything ends, even the ****ty time you spend being fatter than youd like, but once its over, you get to live your life how you want
you have only been lifting since jan 2010? ****!
if you started bulking your strength would probably go through the roof, you would probably pull 800+ in practically no time
seriously impressive..

Good on ya for the vid. I can definitely see some of what you've been talking about in regards to not locking out on certain exercises and powering through as many reps as you can. A LOT of people would have stopped well short of what you did on those shoulder presses and lateral raises but you just kept on going.
Oh yeah, and STRONG workout music at 4:00.... lulz!
Good stuff my man!

saw the vid good $$$$. and thanks. i never really considered bulking. i always wanted to gain all my strength weighing the same as I do today. but yeah maybe if put on 20 pounds of muscle and got up to 230 I might wreck more weights and maybe deadlift in the 800s. the heaviest i've been was 222, but was getting pretty fat lol so I don't know if I can really bulk. right now I'm about 212 water weight but am normally 210. I am training for a 675/700 deadlift at this weight. but we'll see

You said you don't mind questions, so I got a few. And, excuse me if they've been asked before. I didnt' have time to read 3k posts lol.
First, what are some of your measurements? Arms, chest, legs, whatever you got on hand or estimates. Second, I've been bodybuilding and just feeling my muscles, but I'm trying to move bigger weights now specifically. I see you doing ~20 reps for a few of your exercises, and I thought more strength was gained in the lower rep ranges? Care to share your thoughts on the effectiveness of rep ranges? Or why you do certain rep ranges for certain goals?
And, I only ask because I'm impressed lol. Your lifts are mind blowing, and the physique is right up there with the better ones I've seen. I feel like you need more traps or lats, though. Can't quite tell which. You probably already know, since you spend all day with yourself lol. Constructive critique in case you didn't.
Sub'd.

thanks man
yeah i find i can hit shoulders and chest a lot harder with partials/accepting less than ideal form, but i try not to do it at the expense of training every muscle in my body harder than the one im trying to work
yeah, a lot of it is just lazyness really, i need to get to the doctor and get checked up on in general.
il try and get it done soon, i must have been like 12 last time i went to the doctor lol, and im pretty sure its because i broke my hand
thanks man lol
thanks, i noticed the same thing in the video, biceps look like they are working in over drive to stabilize those dumbells
good stuff man, looking forward to the video @ those 675-700 deads
chest is 54" arms are 19.5" cold (super slightly under actually) legs are 28.5, calves are 16.5 measured bent/flexed
as far as rep ranges, i have always been pretty instinctive with my training.
people rely too much on book smarts and not enough on trying things out for them selves. generalities with rep ranges are just that, generalities. you can gain size/strength with basically any rep range, some are better than others, but i find if you vary your rep range, you will hit a wider variety of muscle fibers, and get a wider variety of results.
i look at it like this, one of those rep ranges has got to work, so when in doubt do them all.
but yeah im a big fan of higher reps, i think sets of 20-100 should be in every "bodybuilders" arsenal, because lets face it, at the very least, the pump is a usefull tool for getting big.
yeah, everyone looks at me very differently
the biggest change ocured a few months ago, suddenly people (thought) i looked good, or were at least telling me that/appearing to believe it. and i dont mean like a "ey you started taking the stairs, you lose some weight? your lookin good big guy" but i started getting girls telling me things about my appearance i never thought i would hear lol
looking forward to seeing what dropping down to single digit bodyfat % will do in terms of how people treat meLast edited by babyslayer; 07-01-2011 at 12:58 AM.

im not sure i do to be honest, im not even sure its a hernia, but its my inner/upper thigh
i just started doing stretches for it today, maybe its just a tight muscle from scar tissue/years of getting strong without maintaining flexibility
yeah, i have never been to clubs etc, so i wouldnt know lol
i havent ran into one yet fortunately lol

im thinking that with the right stretching/mobility work, and the right introduction back to squating, that i may get back to squats
i havent been doing them because they feel injury prone (can still feel inner thigh) and they honestly arent worth the risk to me..
but i know if i want to get my legs back to their former glory, im gonna need to be able to deep squat with at least 405 for high reps

Physical therapy would definitely be helpful. They don't just have you do stretches and exercises, although that is ONE aspect of physical therapy.
They also do manual therapy, massage, ultrasound treatment, and in addition, mobilizations and graston technique. You know a lot about strength training, but you know very little about rehabilitating injuries such as the ones you have. A physical therapist would be able to provide insight and knowledge as to the etiology, prognosis, and treatment of your injuries that you probably never would have even thought of.
They would have you doing stretches and exercises you have never even thought of, or diagnose weak points that you never would have realized.
You don't have a job, you're not going to school, and your father is wealthy, so there's no barrier preventing you from attending physical therapy sessions.
