Now taking bets on the time of my family's demise
I have h1n1. It is really interesting how fast this stuff swept our house. The kid developed symptoms one day, the wife the next, me the next and our house guest the day after. I usually don't catch any of the crud that goes through the house and when I do it's a week or two after everyone else.
It's really funny how all my friends think we're going to die . Most of them don't get much real news - just the garbage on the tv from time to time.
It's not been as bad as normal flu but it is pretty yuckie. Second full day into it now. All the normal flu symptoms plus some really wild one minute long sharp pains in random places.
The cough is by far the worst - very painful.
Anyone else enjoying the latest fad?

Me and the wife got over it about 2 weeks ago. I ended up with bronchitis after and she got hospitalized with pneumonia after. We didn't have any nausea or diarrhea, though. It lasted longer than the normal flu by a couple days.

I just tried to get my vaccination yesterday and they say they will call me when they have a clinic (apparently they need 10 people to vaccinate per vial) so I hope I don't turn into a swine by the time they can vaccinate me.

The whole family has been sick the last few days and I've been down with something for over a week now. Dunno what it is, probably not the old piggie flu.

Those pains are one of the warning signs for a severe case. Are they in you stomach area or chest?

Sorry to hear that Geno. Get well soon.
It's amazing how quickly the ill informed masses buy into the party line. Most people forget how deadly the other flu types can be/are.

Its been and gone over here pretty much. i know a few people that got it, had a week off and back to work as normal.
Goes to show how much the human race would be ****ed over if something actually dangerous were to spread.

You hit the nail right on the head. What the TV says about H1N1 is garbage. Pure scare tactics in an attempt to sell their product. You've got H1N1 and you'll be just fine. You're not going to die, you're not infected with the plague that will wipe out 30% of the world's population. You've got a different strain of the flu. You know this, too bad so many others don't. Feel better.

Some guy just gave it to my dad. He's upstairs coughing quite a bit. Seems to say the same about the "painful coughs". He hasn't exactly gotten tested for it, however he rarely ever gets sick (once every 4 years or so). Might have had it myself, not sure, if it was, it wasn't bad at all. Just slept 16 hours a day and had tons of soup, vitamins, tea, and fish oil.
Wish ya luck on getting better, and lots and lots of sleep time.

I forgot about the painful coughs. I never had anything like that before. It hurt way down in my chest/abdomen area.

They start in the chest with almost every coughing fit and move into the stomach.
I'm almost over it now. Just feel a little crappy. This is day 5.

I missed it the first time around. I never take flu shots or any of that sort of thing - I just didn't get it. I never even had a case of regular flu until I was in my thirties. This is my third case of flu.

The sad fact is that the H1N1 strain is statistically less lethal than the standard old type a influenza. It just spreads easier and faster.

I dunno if I would trust the vaccine. We fill it where I work, and it smells like fish out of a dirty river.
