What's your guys' opinion on effective heel elevation? I got some custom insoles made for my do wins for my flat-as-fuark feet, which elevates my heal a bit more than the factory insole. I'm not used to it and I'm not as well balanced as before - should I ditch them and stick with the factory insole that I have had no problems with? Or would it be better to put in some more time with the elevated insole and get used to it?

I have been thinking about trying out a higher heel, how much did the inserts cost and whatnot?
Dudes, can you tell me wtf I did on this snatch. It like crashed on me and ****ing rocked me. Also notice that I jumped back quite a bit, not just a few inches.
edit: Upon watching it again, I didn't jump back that far, so don't think that is an issue

After 5 years on bb.com finally figured out how to multi quote lol.
I have abnormal short femurs... I found that with the insoles, my thighs are more horizontal in the bottom position. No insoles makes my positions feel better and I am much more balanced, but the insoles make my feet feel a lot better... I'll try them out again for a few weeks to see if they feel any better after I take some time to get used to them.
Inserts were covered by my insurance, and I've been going to this ****rthist for the last 10 years of my life so he hooks me up with a few for free too. I think they go for over $100 for a customed made pair, but I don't remember exactly...
Did you shave or something? You look like a different person in that vid lol. Right before you stand up, the bar goes backwards a bit first, and you seem to be moving backwards to recover it. Do you always catch the bar with your spine in so much flexion? That looks like it could have something to do with why the bar didn't balance over your body well. In my eyes it doesn't look like the bar crashes down on you.112.5 snatch

hrmm, not sure if I want to try them for 100 bux, lol. I have longish femurs though.
Yeah, I shaved, lol. Job interview, haha. I feel like a different person too.
Yeah, the bar hit and it was in the right position, but then it drifted back and caused me to have to step back, etc. It was just 1 snatch, so I probably shouldn't worry about it, but it was just odd.
IDK about how I usually catch it, lol. I have a problem with my head dipping upon receiving the bar though. It's been getting better though
Here is a 113 from a few weeks ago that wasn't very pretty but it was a PR, so it was a +100% snatch at the time.
and a 108 from last week

^^^ holy shhit @ that 113... You landed so far on your toes that your knees are actually pointing downwards lmao. I don't think I have ever seen that before. Your spine is way more upright and neutral in those vids, whereas it was pretty lordotic in snatch from today. That might be something, not that I would know for sure, but food for thought at least.
Edit: My buddy wears those adidas and just put in some Dr. Scholl's inserts from walmart or something, and cut off the front part to make it a heel insert lol. Not expensive at all, and it works for him.112.5 snatch

yeah, if I got a regulation haircut, I would look I was in the Marines again, lol.
Yeah, if I start more upright, my shoulders don't get back over the bar for some reason. I also tend to do that thing with my head like Dolega does, lol. If I ever clean and jerk is best snatch, I will take it though, hahaBryan

this is true, but having flat feet/collapsed arch could also cause knee problems due to poor alignment. I'd use the insoles.
and also, fk this fking oly ****, so goddamn hard. must've woken up on the wrong side of the bed today because I missed every single snatch and felt really weak on my cleans too. I've been progressing well on all my lifts as of late so maybe I just due for a bad day.
