incase you guys didnt notice lin qingfeng was competing 6kg under the 69kg group and still dominated everyone unless the london sites info is wrong
if he cut that 1kg and still maintained his strength which doesnt seem unlikely he wouldve destroyed 62kg

I was watching the men's 69kg yesterday and I noticed something about the North Korean lifter: he seemed to have some kind of straps taped to his fingers. Can anyone tell what exactly those were and why was he using them?
Strength + Speed = Power
If you never fail, you aren't truly pushing yourself to the limit. If you never push yourself to the limit, how do you know what you're truly capable of?

Sure. I'm here watching the 77s on a big screen and can tell you what happens basically live. I can tell you what the other strong medal contenders are doing as well if you are interested
Sa just opened on the snatch (like literally a few seconds ago), his weaker lift, and stood up with 158 like it was a broomstick.
EDIT 1121 PT: Sa just took 162 and missed. He appears to have injured his elbow and/or shoulder. I really hope he isn't out of the competition, but it doesn't look good. He had to be helped off the stage.
1125: Sa has retired from the competition (or at least, he didn't come out to take his third snatch).
1126: Lu Haojie opens with 170 and stands up with it like it's a broomstick.
1127: Lu Xiaojun does the same. His 170 doesn't look as easy though.
1129: Lu Haojie takes 175 on his second, new record attempt, misses
1130: Lu Xiaojun takes 175 and does it in style! New WR on his second attempt! What a badass.
1133: Lu Xiaojun is supposed to take 177. The technical controllers appear to be having some altercation with the Chinese about the fact that Lu Haojie is forfeiting attempt 3. I don't know why. Can't understand what is going on.
1137: The snatch phase is over. The two Lu's have a comfortable lead with 170/175. Neither Lu took attempt 3, there was some issue I think with Lu Xiaojun's clock because of Lu Haojie's forfeited third attempt. The crowd was booing. I think the technical controllers were being absurdly anal. It was very confusing.
1143: I just saw that Sa is DNF which means he is out. Damn, that sucks for him.
1150: Lu Haojie looks very rattled. I saw him crying. I think the mistake costing Lu Xiaojun his third attempt really rattled him. He took 190 and got it, I think he injured his wrist and/or elbow.
1155: Lu Haojie doesn't take his second C+J. He's out. He might still medal with 170/190
1201: Lu Xiaojun takes 195. Stays in the hole for a few seconds on the squat jerk. Other than that is fine.
1210: Got a little distracted. With the Egyptian guy missing, I think Lu Xiaojun took the gold with only his first C+J, and Lu Haojie got silver even though he only went 2/6! Lu Xiaojun is going for a total WR with 204.
Lu misses 204. He doesn't stand up with the clean. Never seen that happen, for a guy who makes a 230 FS look like a piece of paper.
Lu goes for 204 on attempt 3 and he gets it! A new total WR to go with the gold. He carries his coach onto the platform in celebration. A fantastic performance. Lu Haojie did absolutely amazing as well, especially because he's never been on a world stage. I think he was injured on his 175 miss which is why he forfeited attempt 3, and why his opener C+J was bumped down to 190. But even with a totally ****ed elbow, he got it. Absolutely the heart of a champion. I feel so bad for Sa. He did the exact same thing as Janos Baranyai in 2008 (which was the only thing that got OLing on the news in the US), except that he was a medal and world record contender. He must be utterly crushed.Last edited by jb4476; 08-01-2012 at 12:32 PM.
