I think the sound that you hear is the inside of the weight plates slamming against the bar because the change in momentum is so fast when they get under the bar..

i hear it in my vids too but i noticed its not from banging the bar because thats not how i do it. i think the sound is from inside the bar rattling

oh hmm, I thought it was the bar hitting the thighs because that sound occurred the same time the barbell contacted the thighs, and I don't notice it in other videos.

Also, does anyone know something that could help me keep my butt from shooting straight up when snatching? I try and think 'lead with the shoulders/chest, keep your butt down, drive off the heels', but nothing seems to work.

This is one of my biggest problems when overhead squatting and doing snatches. Might not be the best advice, but think about standing up with your quads not your ass/hams. Lead with your chest, and really feel that burn in your quads.

Frank Yang is the ****ing man. he was honestly the reason i started training more athletically (box jumps, squatting atg, etc.) which lead to cleans and power snatches which led me to oly lifting. one of my goals for the longest time was to clean and jerk more than Frank Yang (250 pounds). I mean hey, check out my sig hahaha
