I don't?
You've never seen lifters do that in competition? It's pretty damn hard to be perfect at maximal weights. Plus I was using that as an example of why the overhead position is so difficult to control - one little tip in any direction with significant weight will carry you across an entire platform in the split which can be saved. In the squat it's impossible.

Followed myself all 6 lifts
111x
111
117
137
143 X jerk, press out
143 x jerk behind.
The 43s were for nationals
I need to learn to breathe out on heavy cleans. I saw stars all three and almost dumped two of them. Bummed but I'll live
Nonetheless...nice comp PRs and 3kg pr clean. Back to drawing board. AO qualified tooLast edited by schabowy90; 02-08-2014 at 08:18 PM.

This.
1) Bar is moving away from you off of the floor - keep it close and push your knees apart to clear them easier.
2) Bar is banging away from you/hips coming forward too much. It looks to me like you are getting on your toes too early. Some may disagree, but my remedy for this has been to stay in the heels longer... also: extend up and slightly backwards, instead of just straight up. This will help you throw the bar up, rather than out and up. Just remember to keep the bar close after the extension with your arms so it doesn't loop away from you.

Has anyone maxed out on snatch grip deadlifts? If so, what is your ratio of that to conventional deadlifts?
I was doing snatch pulls and kept going heavier and heavier (with the pull height going down and down until it was just a deadlift) and hit 200kg (with straps). My best conventional deadlift is 205kg, done with double overhand no hook. I've read that one should normally have a ratio of around 80-85% so mine seems a bit off. Though then again I also have a front squat about 97% of my back squat so I'm a man of weird ratios.Strength + Speed = Power
If you never fail, you aren't truly pushing yourself to the limit. If you never push yourself to the limit, how do you know what you're truly capable of?

Greco 150x11!?? At 62?
And you're 21? One more year of school? You need to stick with it and try out for mdusa after. If you continue to train you'll be sweeping gold IMO at nats in a few years. My 10r I think is 150 (few months ago). Get some overhead strngth and a tad bit if mass. You have the speed and technique to hit maximal weights.fix that jerk!!
We've got some strong kids here I like itSnatch: 122

On week 6 of carb backloading... definitely noticing some leanness, juicy
anyways my trap muscle that I strained last friday is still a bit sore when I tilt my head down as far as I can... other than that I can move through various RoMs pain free. When I get to the gym this afternoon and I can warm-up presses/jerks without any pain/discomfort do you guys think I should train or should I wait for it to heal to 100%? I'm super eager to continue my program since I've been making great progress but obviously want to avoid any more setbacks

Can't be upset with the PRs though, even in spite of following yourself. Plenty more meets until Nat'ls.
I'm similar, I Sn Dl'd 182kg, and have conventional'd 200kg (while ago though, probably higher). So, my %'s are similarly high, and my Front:Back squat ratio is pretty high. I think it just means you have a very strong upper back, because that's what is supposed to be harder in a Sn DL and Front Squat.
Thank you, although I was weighing like 65kg in that video. I'm moving up to 69kg. Funny you say about overhead strength, because that's just what I've been doing, lol. Snatch Balanced 116kg yesterday, trying to keep on push that up.

Greco is strong as ****.
I did 4 sets of clean + 2 jerk at 110 kg last night. Felt pretty good. Here's one of them:
