16 y/o smashed youth nats qualifying total a couple weeks ago. Pretty sure he is in. He just wrecked a 97kg clean and jerk yesterday so we will get another opportunity to post an even higher total. He is capable of a 72kg snatch as well he just needs to work on his strength off the floor and actually hook gripping. He whines that it hurts his hands too much. pussy

I can't really get any videos because I'm training at a big box gym right now... no bumpers and crap bars. But I'll hopefully get some new videos up before the years end when I move to atlanta.
On my split jerks I, as I get near my max, I start losing the weight to right. The only way to really stop this is for me to intentionally split really wide. It feels unnatural to me.
I feel like if I were to work on power jerks I can easily pass my max on split jerks. I can easily power jerk 100kg without much fuss, while my max split jerk is 120kg and that was really pushing it.
Thanks for the tips.Squat: 135 lbs
Bench: 225 lbs
Deadlift: 185 lbs
Stop quoting my stats. I know what I'm doing if I can deadlift 1.5 plates.

I've been half-assing the training lately between gunning for a promotion/little man/new gf. I probably wouldn't have even been there.
On a different note they talked me into trying a timed clean ladder (185 - 205 - 225 - 255 - 275) for as many reps as possible in two minutes. I got 13 and than almost blacked out; couldn't breath and all I could taste was blood. Crazy Crossfitters.

hey everyone. I'm looking to start training the Oly lifts and am scanning around the web for a good gym to check out in my area. It seems like all there is are cross fit gyms. Are Olympic lifting gyms uncommon these days or something? I live in Chicago suburbs I'd think there would be lots of options here but I'm not shelling out $700 a month or whatever cross fit gyms are.
Anyone in the Naperville/Aurora area and have a good suggestion?Log -> http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=153108621

Check out usa weightlifting and look up LWC's in your area. I wouldn't completely discredit Crossfit's either because a lot of good coaches have moved to crossfit facilities. The previous model of having a pure Olympic weightlifting gym is kind of dying out somewhat, so they're moving to crossfit gyms. The good news is that many crossfit gyms have a separate membership for those that want to just to barbell work, powerlifting or Olympic lifting without having to join the regular crossfit workouts.

Sup brahs, I am new to olympic lifting and I need some help. I was watching this video of klokov explaining how to snacth:
I can get the bar upto the position shown above but the problem is getting under it. I was doing it wrong the whole time by hitting the bar with my hips and sort of curving it up and then getting it down.
What should I be doing to fix this because its going to need alot of practice.
