    i train for rugby so right now my off season 2 lower days have either snatch or clean and Jerk in there - followed by Front squat or Back squat...

    i am on vacation for another 2 weeks then thinking will do this for warmup after the o lift then work to max reps for day then drop done for volume...

    this is purely what works for me

    but paused reps work so much better at the end of a squat workout

    so work to a single drop for 6-8 triples then do 2-4 paused singles, that is a nice squat session there. Then do it again in 6 hours

    brahs I need help srs.


    After snatches, I was starting to do clean and jerks. I warmed up at 205 fine, nothing wrong. I put on 245 or 250 on the bar and when I cleaned a really sharp pain hit my upper back, towards my right shoulder blade. I can backsquat fine, but my back still hurts and it hurts to bring my arms to like a front squat position.


    Wat do?

    dont do anything that aggravates it, probably strained a rotator cuff muscle or one of 6 billion annoying little muscles surrounding your scapula. probably a max 2 weeks of healing

    ice it, maybe take some ibuprofen. its most likely nothing serious and will get better on its own. if not, go to a sports doctor and get it checked out. in the meantime, back squat and do snatches/pulls/jerks/ whatever doesnt make your back hurt.

    I think it's a pinched nerve. fuark. I tried the lacross ball thing, and it helped, but only temporarily. I had to take work off today (work in a warehouse) because the pain is so bad.

    Oh boy, I had a pinched nerve...it felt like my side was paralyzed...like I couldn't breath sometimes...getting in and out of bed was hell.

    Try to keep lacrossing, take NSAID, get physical therapy. That helped me a lot.

    aight will do. Yeah deep breaths are a pain.


    I just don't know how I hurt it. Idk if it was the clean itself or catching the bar. It wasn't even heavy, compared to what I normally do. Just a nice easy clean and BAM i'm out.

    I know what you mean. It happened to me twice, one time, I was just routinely doing 90kg CJ's. They felt kinda weird. Next morning woke up, couldn't move. Several months later happened after my clean pull form was funky.

    At least for me though, besides those two incidents, I never had any pain the region or anything more though. But boy is it brutal.

    good. hopefully it's just a one time thing, I don't normally hurt myself lifting lol. It just pisses me off I never get to train consistently, between track school and work and other stuff.

    srs tho was nationally ranked in the top 15 indoor and top 20 outdoor for shot and like 60th nationally for disc. I'm bulking up for college, I wanna go to nationals my sophomore year.

    Wow, awesome. I did track, but I did 200m, 300m, 400m sprints. Good luck! Have you noticed if Weightlifting has helped your progress at all?
