This heat is killing me. Yesterday's session was ruined because it was so unbearably hot in my garage. I want to be out there working out right now but it's so hot and humid outside... like walking into an oven. I'm gonna have to wait until the sun starts going down to lift so I don't die of heat stroke while squatting lol.

did a powerlifting meet on sunday. two and a half weeks to peak for my first oly meet on the 29th. programming suggestions? was just gonna follow pendlay's tapering for the intermediate. yes i know i'm not intermediate but with training two disciplines i have a fair amount of accumulated fatigue.

Also I went out.... maybe a bit before 8 when it was starting to cool off a little. It was still insanely hot, but at least the workout was manageable. Didn't get done until close to 10, though, which I hate doing. Pretty decent session, surprisingly.
Start by gradually reducing volume but keep going heavy and getting consistent with numbers that you'd want to hit. The week before start lowering the intensity, especially in clean and jerk and squat.

God I ****ing hate trying to register for meets with USAW. And when I finally get their jungle of a site figured out and get to registering, it turns out I haven't qualified as a 69kg lifter because the Muscle Driver tryouts and a meet I did at LSUS as a 69 weren't USAW sanctioned meets. I'm qualified as a 62, and I swear if I have to ****ing cut down to 62 kilos... o lordy

^False grip for hand strength, Klokov would approve based on his uploads today.
this one barely makes sense to me though, I hope someone can translate it soon:
All I can really figure out is that he is no-hook gripping and releasing his grip on every rep so it trains grip strength and delts and traps? Seems like a strange accessory exercise seeing as he already does snatch-grip-no-hook-deads...112.5 snatch

Oh what the hell, I might as well translate the other video Klokov uploaded.
Klokov: Is it on? Today we are going to work on hands. We are going to strengthen them. Our first exercise will be snatch grip deadlift with regular grip. Hands!
P.S. You're welcome GregorLast edited by TheStaringFrog; 06-15-2013 at 10:38 AM.

@jb talked before about that adapted state. I was so sore after doing "cindy" thursday and so slow under the bar today but somehow I just pushed through.

I just wanted to say thank you. I have been squatting daily since October 2nd and could not be happier with the results. On Friday I got sick with a cold (and I am still sick) and at first I was frustrated, assuming that a few days of potential quality training would be lost. But I went to the gym anyway and had my most successful three days ever, setting big PRs in four major strength exercises. On Friday I successfully strict overhead pressed 170x8 and ATG back squatted 340x5. On Saturday I made an (easy) 305x1 front squat (not a PR, but definitely an improved baseline number), and then today I made a behind the neck push press PR of 220x7, a front squat PR of 290x6 followed by an (easy) 350x1 back squat for an improved baseline number. You could not be more correct about the idea that your body is lying to you. I have no idea how I pulled out all those PRs over the last three days while in cold sweat, with swollen lymph glands, a congested nose and a brutally sore throat. But I did.
