Guise I've quit weightlifting to become a professional zumba instructor.
LOL completely not srs do not rain the neg train upon me. Couldn't be farther from the truth. Here are some videos to prove that I do, in fact, still lift:
Here's a jerk triple with 105 kg:
And here's one I'm very proud of. I mentioned somewhere before that I'm much better at pulling than squatting (I am built for it). I hurt my back around 15 months ago. Before that, my best pull was 200 kg (440 lb)x5. My back healed but I couldn't really make my deadlift return to previous numbers so I set it aside. But now after months of constant heavy squatting, snatching and cleaning, last week I decided I would start deadlifting regularly again (once per week). Today, second return deadlift session, I shattered my previous pre-injury PR by pulling 410x9 with no mixed grip (hook), and no straps, thanks entirely to constant heavy cleaning, snatching and squatting. This is why I will never, ever need straps for anything. The only reason I was pausing a bit between reps was to get blood back into my thumbs (warning, this video is really boring). I was really lazy with the lockout because it isn't my weak point. Much weaker off the floor, my hamstrings are overpowered by quads and low back.

That feel when not only zero PRs, but you miss four PR attempts all by a hairs breadth.
Press attempt 175x7, make 1,2,3,4,5,6 easy, miss 7 as the bar clears the head. ****.
Attempt FS 305 lb (139 kg)x5, make 1,2,3,4 miss 5 leaning forward too much because my midsection was so tired, bar literally falls out of hands. Muscles in between fingers of the right hand feel kind of messed up. Ignore it and move to C+J. I've decided to stop attempting to get out the final rep if my midsection/torso is that fatigued. I can clearly tell when I'm going to buckle on the final rep, but I tend to go for it anyway, sometimes I get it but even if I do the strain on the muscles and joints between the fingers in that rep is tremendous. I've decided to stop because it's stupid, and also because I'm concerned for the long term welfare of the bone and connective tissue in my fingers.
Attempt 105 kg (230)x2 in the C+J. Make 1, make the second clean easy, miss jerk 2. Much worse at the jerk following the full clean than off the rack or the power clean. The squat clean recovery takes a heavy toll on jerk technique. Lame/.
Ditch the jerk and work up to max clean. Attempt 116 kg (255) for a double. Make 1 easy, miss 2, didn't clark it, got under it fine, bar was too far away, ditched it forward.
Seriously sandy vagina right now.Last edited by jb4476; 02-15-2013 at 11:06 PM.
