I'm a thrower, shot putter, not looking to compete in oly anytime soon. Push presses are more relevant to my trainer, as are cleans/snatches. I would love to do jerks but wrist is fuarked as hell. Like when I try to pop the weight up and catch it in a position to jerk it my wrist feels like its about to snap in half.

i noticed i do a slight splot when i power jerk. gotta get legs stronger to power jerk
guess im power jerking now because the injury got worse from the split jerks =\ now if i sit or rest for too long it goes number and i end up limping for 10s when i get up.
and heres 2 jumps from today. made 8'6" this time, didnt measure last time we did this. the second one was worse than the first because i had just done burpees before it....

Even though my jerk technique at low weight has improved, my jerk technique at higher weight still breaks down always for the same reason. And my jerk hasn't improved in weight even though my clean has.
I believe the reason for this is that at higher weights I have a tendancy to dip too much. When the dip is too deep, I hunch forward and that makes the jerk almost impossible. Takano keeps saying "use more legs" and I kept thinking he meant "dip more", but he doesn't, he means reverse direction fast and yeild to the bar. From now on, need to make sure to have a short, snappy dip and reverse direction fast, instead of trying to jerk with a huge quarter squat dip. I think that will fix all my jerk problems. This is what a jerk at low weight looks like.

first vid works now, cleans were slow, im still recovering lol

chad vaughn said hes never trained someone that he HASN'T reduced dip depth on. like i said before, dont push it up there, dip and just pop that mofo up and get under

okay disregard my previous post about how jerking it(no homer) hurts my wrist. Figured out how to get the bar into position, even on heavy ones.
Did 290 for doubles for 3 sets. Feelsgoodman.jpg. Had to lock a few out though, from not splitting and just power jerking.6'0 249 @ 18 years old in AVI

went into the gym with good intentions felt strong, and then i ripped a callus off my hand. not the usual oh well i guess i will keep lifting tear. It is half dead half alive skin which sent a tearing sensation down my hand when ever i gripped onto something.
so i false gripped an 83kg snatch complex lol
i had to stop after that because i hands were tired and on fire

I've decided to start developing the mobility to squat jerk and start practicing the squat jerk. Not because I desire to emulate Lu Xiaojun, but because I think it would be helpful as far as holding the proper shoulder position in the front jerk, whcih I have difficulty with.
Any suggestions? I've been doing a lot of close grip shoulder dislocations and close grip overhead squats with a PVC pipe and bar. Anything else you find helpful? How long did it take you to develop the mobility to squat jerk?
