**** this earth. I really want to know what goes on in the heads of these mass murderers. Do they feel any remorse as they do what they do? Are they completely numb to emotion?
I don't understand this wickedness.

I want to ask for some opinions on the frequency of snatching with straps vs without straps. I know that Olympic weightlifters snatch a lot with straps but I don't want to do it too much as it can create a false sense of security. Because of that I have for the past 3 months or so done all my snatching (2x a week) with just my grip and I must say that my grip strength has greatly improved over this period. I am however considering switching to doing one of these snatch sessions with straps to help me move some slightly higher weights. Would you guys recommend this or not?
Strength + Speed = Power
If you never fail, you aren't truly pushing yourself to the limit. If you never push yourself to the limit, how do you know what you're truly capable of?

Alright Oly bros, I have a pretty decent story. So yesterday I arrived in Vancouver and so I'm chilling for a few days with relatives in Burnaby, BC before I head to Whistler. There's a Gold's gym in Burnaby about a mile from where I am. Been there before so I know they have a nice platform and some bumpers. Today I was going to BTN Push press, back squat, snatch and C+J.
So first I did my BTN push pressing and set an utterly obscene PR. I expected my BTN push press to rapidly overtake my front push press by a lot, because it should always be easier to move more weight from the behind the neck. I didn't anticipate it moving so quickly however. At first I thought that the weights were just incorrectly labelled or something, but I didn't pull out any other surprises in my other lifts, and I used the same plates and bar.
I probably could have got the sixth if I had really fought, but at that point I was too surprised/self congratulatory to really grind it out. The reds are 45s obviously. These are lb bumper plates. That was my only PR of the day, but hell yeah I'll take it.
OK, moving on with the story. While I was there, I met Amit Sapir, I didn't know who he was at the time. He came in just as I was starting to snatch, was squatting in the rack behind the platform. Amit Sapir is this guy:
I didn't find out who he was until I asked him if he had ever competed in Oly lifting, because I saw he had a tattoo on his shoulder of the Olympic rings inscribed above a barbell, you can see it in the picture. He said yes, it turns out he was 2x Israeli national champion in Olympic lifting, he is currently the most successful Israeli bodybuilder and an IFBB pro. He said he was a 69 kg lifter, which I was having trouble envisioning given his current size. It was definitely humbling to watch him back squat (high bar parallel) 635x2, 585x5, 495x7 and 405x10. He seemed like a really chill guy, I asked him if he had any suggestions to prevent losing the clean in front, which I was having trouble with, he said to try to make the pull more vertical, and that it looked like I was striking the bar with my hips, resulting in the bar coming out in front.Last edited by jb4476; 12-16-2012 at 09:19 PM.

ok so going to the school gym tomorrow that has bummper plates and platforms, my first experience with them as i usually do less weight and use the lame regular plates(just getting into oly lifts, mainly clean and jerk atm). any advice for me? lol thanks
also, just tried getting romaleos but they are out of stock now :[ should i wait for them to restock or just go with the adipower? i have slightly wider feet i guess, more flat footed really, making them a bit widerLast edited by jubjub007; 12-17-2012 at 12:35 AM.

Anybody else have a hell of a time finding jeans that fit?
I'm 6'3 with a 35" waist so length has always been an issue (apparently only 5'6 fatties have 35 inch waists), but now that my legs are getting bigger, I can barely squeeze a normal pair of gyms over my quads.
Any suggestions on lifter-friendly brands/styles?
