basically just follow your dream no matter what, even if the odds are 1/100000000
but that means probably not falling in love, etc. Not that your spouse won't support you, but you will want to do what is ever best for her (or him for some of you )
Guess that is just part of growing up. I'm not even sad, it's just a reality.

The fight was incredible I agree I just meant in a marketing perspective. Pacquiao/Mayweather makes ZERO sense now considering the whooping Mayweather put on Marquez. I'd like to see Bradley/Marquez.
And don't be a boxing purist brah, watch both mma and boxing. Btw I think Marquez easily has KOTY in both boxing and MMA. Reminiscent of williams/martinez II.Misc Strength Crew

I do watch MMA, and have a couple of buddies who train/compete in it, and I think it can be great. I just think Boxing at its best beats MMA at best (see Corrales (RIP) vs Castillo) it does not get better than that. I can even appreciate a good ground fight, but at the end of the day, I am going to prefer Boxing. A lot of Boxing fights are boring though (see almost any Hopkins fight), so I am far from a purist, but I guess I am old skool.
Huntito, stay that way. Although, I will say that lifting is not everything (that doesn't mean drink all the time though, lol). As my coach said, even if you were a national champ, this **** is still nothing more than a glorified bowling league. Sad but true, it won't support any of us (in America).
DBK, I am not leaving, the earliest I could go to OCS is the summer, and even then it's only 10 weeks. Lots of **** has to happen though, but we shall see. If **** doesn't work out, I will probably go in Reserves as enlisted, (still decent retirement) and then I won't have to do OCS/TBS which will be better for my lifting career. There is still no reason that I can't qualify for Nationals if I work at it, but at the end of the day I miss the Marine Corps and if I was single, I would probably go back active duty. Can't believe I am saying thatBryan

BTW, I agree about Pac/Floyd doesn't make sense anymore, and Floyd definitely owned Marquez, but it's one of those things 'styles make fights'. Although I have been very vocal that if Pac and Floyd fought, that I would be laying a large amount of money (which for me is like $200, lol) on Floyd. A year ago, the public would have bought manny up to probably even if not a favorite, I would have banked, oh well. I think we will see Marquez/Pac 5, which I am not a fan of, but at least that will give Marques the chance to go 2-2-1, even though he should probably 3-0-1 against the Manny
and Manny got robbed vs bradley, what a joke that was.Bryan

I don't understand what causes so much internal hip rotation in some people when they squat/O-lift that their knees nearly knock. Is it just their biomechanics? It isn't necessarily an indication of poor technique or ugly lifting style. Hysen Pulaku is extremely proficient but his knees rotate in like crazy.

idk brah, seems to me like some people are just able to keep the knees out. Really rustles my jimmies when someone says "push your knees out" flatly, as if that was the only epiphany/mental cue someone needed to have a better squat.
When my knees come in, it isn't for lack of resisting. The only way I can get my glutes into the movement is by clenching the hips a bit on the ascent. Otherwise, it'd be straight quad strength which is just not possible unless your upper legs are short as phuck and your torso is snake-mode. (obv an exaggeration, but you get the point)
Basically it's sacrificing some form efficiency for strength efficiency to achieve the same overall efficiency as another lifter, if that makes sense, nomsayin.Best gym lifts: S 430 / B 385 / D 480 both C&S

Oh btw, I took a page from your book and squatted 260x15. I stopped there not because the weight was heavy but because my legs started shaking so damn much I was nervous that I would fall over. Also it took over 2:30 to complete because my cardio sucks. It's interesting that I'm stronger in this rep range, I think when I get to really low rep work my back tires before my legs, whereas with weight as light as this by back won't give out and so my legs can just keep going and going.
During finals week Caltech does this midnight breakfast thing on the Tuesday/Wednesday of finals week where there's a huge banquet of sausage and bacon and scarambled eggs and pancakes and waffles and crepes. So I'm going to make all kinds of gains with my endless midnight breakfast.Last edited by jb4476; 12-11-2012 at 09:58 PM.

just sacrificing of posture for maximal weight. nothing new
i want to "hang-give" an vasectomy to every ****atron that tells me that when i get about 90%
i respond well to high reps. I use them as a conditioning tool, i use them for building back strength and keeping good posture, they are easier on my joints when i time them right in my week, and they are hard as ****
i realize the necessity of using higher weight and lower reps and it fits the specificity or the sport, but for us all natural folks it can be pretty rough on the joints to only do doubles and triples everyday. my back gives out first on the 250x20 (or 19 or w/e i got). Honestly i could keep going but i get too light headed to continue. ive done 225x42 before....that was awful and on a dare that i could not hit 30 lol

Did 245 x 20 little over 3 months ago after a couple weeks of higher rep training. Actually made my knees feel 10/10. I'd like to go back to it for a few weeks sometime in the future... sucks, but really feels so much better than squatting heavy/doing a million sets all the time.

Yeah, I prefer to work up to one heavy top set rather than sets across, and I like to usually stick to that set being in the 3-7 range, good thing too, I think if I was doing heavy singles and doubles on a daily basis I would be falling apart. Whatever works to get your Oly-specific squat strength up. That's all that matters. It's not like I'm competing in powerlifting.
