So much for dark times. It's midnight and all I want to do is smash weights. It's really funny how recovery/the body works. One moment you can be dead on your feet and the next you're like "****ing get this shiiiiiit".
LMAO. Hey look, someone in that thread knows you.Originally Posted by DaTruth1

Got a question for you guys:
What is your opinion on doing overhead work (push presses and jerks) from behind the neck vs from the front? I know that from the front should at least theoretically be more useful for carryover into the C&J for obvious reasons but the reason I don't like it is that it is very hard to bring the bar back down if you want to do multiple reps or don't want to drop the bar. When doing it from the front you have to hyperextend quite a bit to clear the head and this wreaks havoc on my lower back while at the same time it is very easy to lower a bar onto my upper back.
Right now I'm alternating between doing them from the front and from the back (push presses and jerks) but I'm wondering whether I could get away with doing them almost exclusively from the back or perhaps a 2:1 split for back:front without compromising my development of the C&J.Strength + Speed = Power
If you never fail, you aren't truly pushing yourself to the limit. If you never push yourself to the limit, how do you know what you're truly capable of?

as all things done from the back, it lets you overload and do more weight because its easier. your lower back shouldnt be hurting unless your core is weak and your form is compromised.
i hate bringing the bar back down too because thats also how it kills my lower back and knees, so i dont bother doing rack jerks. if you have jerk boxes that will solve your problem because you can just drop it and quickly readjust.........(july 23, 2010)

higher contact point
looks awesome, and yeah that sucks about the lack of jerk boxes. you could ask them to see if theyll get it lol but then again.....do we really need to do multiple jerks? for me i tire myself out by cleaning then doing 2 front squats before the jerk, that way its all form since my legs will be tired.........(july 23, 2010)

Random question: Does anyone else descend slow on the squat? I know that some top guys (Salimi) do it, and some guys (Broz) say you should always perform the movement as fast as possible. It probably doesn't matter but I prefer to drop slow.
That there is impressive as ****. Nice work.

i think the volume from sat (8x2) helped because it got me used to keeping my hips under. weird thing about that was my first 5 sets felt like **** and then 6-8 felt super easy....it took me 5 sets of the work weight to warm up lol?
oh yeah i was also wondering if long hair is a source of power? like samson ahhaah i make all my prs when my hair grows out

Stupid iPad can't link this. Someone post this YouTube video. Mind obliterated.

@circa squat stand is awesome man. Great quality. Free shirt is nice too
@edward Cullen it's getting better man. Funny I've taken off three full days and I feel like I haven't lifted for a few weeks. Good news is I think my spine is ok, got a chiro next week to crack me back into place just in case something isn't aligned. All Saturday my erectors and lower back were locked up so my mom sent me to acupuncture. Helped a lot, it was kinda crazy lol needles in my hand that would release back pressure.
I still have this weird knot in one spot, went to the gym just to hang in pull-up position and bottom of hyper extension position. Felt SOO GOOD. Just need to keep decompressing the spine and let it heal. I'll probably do upper body tomorrow. Maybe technique work if I can.Snatch: 122
