I seriously don't understand how people hit PR cleans without catching the bounce. Is racking the bar more of a limiting factor than squatting it up?? That boggles my mind :S

Squatting is always the limiting factor in the clean for me. I read somewhere that for someone with efficient technique, they should be able to clean their front squat 3 rep max and this is exactly true for me, however I can't catch the clean on it, I can only do it from a dead stop from the bottom.


On another topic, who here does jerks from behind the neck? I alternate my jerk assistance work by doing them from the front one week and the back the next. Also what are your front/back jerk ratios like? I can do 130/140kg so about 8% difference.

Front squatted 136/300 tonight, 15 lb PR.

Approx. 10 months ago I could barely squat 185 without dying, so I'm pleased.

I would have gone for the jerk, but was at uni gym. They get mad if i drop the weight. In fact they asked me to be more careful putting it down after that clean.

I don't know what I can X3 on FS, it was 320 in summer, so maybe a bit more now. But thats a pretty close estimate on guessing.



I just need dem snatch gains now to even out possible total

Huge PR day today. 235kg deadlift with adipowers on. 110kg power clean after 105 from the high hang.
I need to start working on full cleans though because i'm getting the impression that even if I develop insane speed I won't be able to powerclean more than 120-125.

I'm @ like 175 now lol. Pizza + alcohol diet for the past 3 months.

Not sure if i'm just fat or 'big' lol. For sure though i'll be <160 after getting down to 10% or so.
Also in some random news i'm still undefeated in armwrestling lifetime. I've beat everyone at my gym including people much stronger. Like ridiculously easy...

Also do some back extensions or RDLs for spinal erectors. The chinamen do them like every single workout.

They look great, but Pendlay said that the heel height is the same, which IMO is a problem because I don't think the old Pendlay's had enough.

i am going to do back extensions 6 days in a row next week along with very slow VMO squats. to try and sport treat my back before i start my new program on the 18th.

Unbelted lifts are starting to catch and overtake all time belted PRs now that I've stopped using a belt at all for any lift. That's good, and it feels like I can make a lot more progress without using it. Coach is definitely right to emphasize midsection strength.

More like are you new to deadlifting :P. People who deadlift often will for sure have ratios like mine or worse. The carryover is minimal at best. A better indicator of 'weightlifting strength' is your front squat.
