I was just there, well like 6 weeks ago.
well, Ladera Ranch for my cousins wedding. Love it out there, when I was stationed in Yuma, we would drive out/up there quite a bit, not as often as LV but a lot. Paradise out there, well expensive paradise.
Anybody doing a meet in the near future? I know FECES is, if I can get out of work, I might do the state championships as a teammate/helper, lmao. Meaning I solely buy time for a buddy and then load up 275kg for a last attempt clean and jerk, hahaBryan

lmao, epicness
ah, knew that about physics, didnt know about math degrees.
Probably because I get retarded when multiple variables get thrown in, so a math degree never entered my mind. I am so lost in life (career path wise) right now the plan is to just get a BS and then a CSCS and see what happensBryan

A pure math degree? Well, you could go into academia, like straight-up hard core math research in big unsolved problems. That's my plan.
You could make a deal with the devil and go work for the finance industry in quantitative analysis, making ridiculous amounts of money.
There's a lot of other things but I'm lazy and don't feel like listing them. Those are the two that come to mind most immediately.

Not really. The two options I listed above both sort of entail you having a PhD. That means quite a few more years for me to figure stuff out. But looking at my degree and the list of courses I have done, it's completely obvious that it's heavily weighted toward academic research/pure math. Financial math/stochastic calculus kind of stuff is not quite the same, although it should be easier to pick up if you've been through the grinder of high level research mathematics.
The obvious upside to going into research mathematics is that, at least in theory, it's fun! That's part of the reason it exists and that people having been thinking about it since civilization has existed. But it can get really emotionally draining when you invest so much time and effort into pursuing problems that you become obsessed with. In that sense it's really quite similar to Olympic lifting. The personality traits you need to be good at one sort of go well to the other.

exactly
ah, figured. Seems like you need a Masters degree at a minimum for almost any field. Ridic. I mean my school is paid for (hell, I get paid to go to school) but I just don't see how it is that cost effective to even go to school nowadays if you are taking loans out. Graduate with a ****tton of debt and no guarantee job. Obviously it depends on the degree, but people who go to school for theatre and ****, lmao. Have fun paying off that 80k student loan as a waiter, lol. If I was not getting paid to go to school, I think being a cable/phone installer would make more sense for meBryan
