What do you do to keep them from wearing out? I have a pair of Konos, the sizing says for 195-230 lb, they're hard to put on and so you have to pull on them quite violently and the result is that one has a big growing hole in the upper front and the other has two widening seam splits on the top and the bottom

just the 2012 rankings for the 105 class on usaw
they are from any sanctioned meet though, so like if I theoretically totaled 400 at a non national meet, I would be ranked #1 ahead of Shankle, but Shankle would still be the guy who went to international meets, since he has the highest total at a national meet. For instance, North is the #1 94 because he did a 351 at a meet, even though Wilson and Sabatini beat him at Nationals...Bryan

Just droppin in to say I am excited to get back into full Oly, over summer I had just been doing cleans and variations with minimal overhead work and in the past several weeks I have reintroduced snatches and overhead work into my routine. Feeling very strong, looking forward to future progress!

quick question guys, is it normal to catch the bar - in the clean - so close to your throat that it starts to pinch it shut? I've noticed in many heavier cleans that when I reach the top and take a big breath to prepare for the jerk, I start wheezing as if I was having an asthma attack...
I guess I'll just have to get used to it, but I'm just curious as to whether or not this happens to anyone else. The Long Road to Competition... My olympic weightlifting journal:

Pretty sure I hit 275 with a belt a long while ago. Without a belt my best is something like 255-260? My squat fluctuates so much it's impossible to tell on any given day.
Today I power clean + jerked 205 for 2. I then proceeded to fail a 205 full clean on the recovery. wut.
So I'm just going full force on front squats from now on. It's absolutely ridiculous that I should be struggling so much with these small numbers, especially when I clearly have enough power to be doing more. I did front squat triples at 185 today and it was phucking difficult. I have strict pressed 185 and power snatched 180 (plus I just push pressed 200 for a casual triple on Monday). Dafuq mane. Just don't think back squats are cutting it.Best gym lifts: S 430 / B 385 / D 480 both C&S

Here's my channel: www.youtube.com/user/RedWildz/videos?view=0
I don't have any vids of oly back squats up. I cut depth for awhile to focus on building explosiveness in the hammies/glutes, and to just work with heavier weight in general. Got to 350x3 this way, belted.
Here's a FS set with 225 done a week or so ago:

Holy **** bro. Your squats suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. No offense obviously. It's hard to see with that toothbrush you filmed your front squats with, but I would say first of all, go way way way way way way way slower on the descent. You kind of just dive bomb and your posture goes to hell. You need to stretch your back A LOT. Your bottom position is ugly. Keep the elbows up, hips down and forward, back TIGHT. Push your knees out more too.
As far as cutting your depth for hammy strength, that's probably the worst thing you could do right now. You don't need it. You need a bigger squat in general, and I can tell from watching you front squat that your hammies are overpowering your quads. The best Weightlifting forum on the web:

damn, that meet adrenaline was definitely in full force then
I just love to drink, lol. Sometimes, it's all I think about. Like today, I just couldn't wait to have a drink. Granted, I don't drink that often (1-2 times a month, but when it hits, there is no stopping it). Maybe I can claim PTSD or something and at least get some cash for itBryan

Bro this is how I feel every Saturday at work lol. Once 3 o'clock hits and my buddy and I meet up it's game over man lol. We usually pregame with 1/2-3/4 of a bottle of vodka then hit the bars around 11pm lol
I like to think it's just cuz I'm in college, hopefully it doesn't become a habit when I'm older lmaoThe Long Road to Competition... My olympic weightlifting journal:

iknothatfeeling
I mean I am 26 now, still a full-time student (GI Bill) but don't really frequent the bars all that often anymore, occasionally, but not all the time. When I was 20-22 in the Marines, I would drink no **** at least 3-4 times a week, and to complete ****facedness, lol. I don't know how I did it, I somehow managed not to get arrested or get an STD, haha. So I guess I have improved since then, but I still have flashbacks, lol
I was out near you last weekend, well sorta. Ladera Ranch for wedding, well the wedding was at some place called coto de caza or some****, like that, but the whole OC area. ****ing paradise man, ****Last edited by WHT_LIGHTNING; 09-13-2012 at 07:27 PM.

So much this... slores gonna slore bro
It's ridiculous how easy alcohol makes everything. All my friend has to do is say "This is my friend Hunter, he's going to dental school next year" and it's like shooting fish in a barrel lmfao.
Oh yeah and Ladera Ranch is far as hell from me lol. Even when I was going to Cal State Fullerton it was a mish and a halfThe Long Road to Competition... My olympic weightlifting journal:
