hahaha someone noticed
was just going through weightlifting pics on fb thats all
oddly enough, my smaller foot is hurting at the big toe joint. only when standing though but feels fine in a split jerk position. will probably just wear and stretch them out slightly, but besides that every part fits perfect. gonna go try them out in a couple hours.........(july 23, 2010)

^^ How important is hip drive on jerks? I have a ****ty clean, so I've never focused on jerk work specifically. I tend to just stay on my heels and then pop it up and dive under and that has worked for me so far.
edit: just took a look at a clip and I guess I do get some air time...
My max clean is 115 so that is about a 90% lift in competition.112.5 snatch

Clean technique and ability continues to improve, clean will probably go up very quickly. I can't split jerk with any consistency so I changed to a power jerk in a style hybrid of Ivanov/Torokhity, it felt much better and much more consistent. I was close to a 105 PR on the jerk but I pressed it out because when the weight got heavy I found it more awkward to move under the bar and when the weight is heavy I can't seem to get that double knee bend. I've never power jerked before. Still, first day power jerking so I'm happy.
So close....

Hehehe, I noticed I changed my grip from pull to catch to jerk, from wide to narrow to medium. It reminds me of this but not as extreme.

does anyone have any good drills for this? I'm consistently forward on all my snatches and some cleans. I think part of that might be the bar getting too far away from me after I make contact w/ my hips
also has anyone had experience with turning a storage rental space into a lifting place? or would that just be a total failure. Los Angeles brahs I has an idea but I'm not sure if it'll work
edit: should have specified. something along the lines of 10 x 10 or 10 x 15 maybe even 10 x 20
l a brahs my brilliant scheme is while schools in session to set up a platform in a storage locker near my school (9 minute combined bus ride and walk for me) lift there and not @ the ****ty school gym. when schools not in session (winter break summer etc) stuff could be stored in a smaller 5 x 5 unit to save cost. this is obviously in very very very very early stages but it'd be nice to have a place to lift for the next 3 years that you don't have to share with people trying to curl in the squat rack or getting evil looks when you drop the weightsLast edited by dbk1; 09-04-2012 at 10:29 PM.

I had the EXACT same problem, always hit the bar with my hips so had to finish by jumping forward lol, probably partly because my shoulders wern't well OVER the bar during the first pull
you should make a bit more space between the bar and your hips at the top, being over the bar more might help this idk - it did for me
look how the bar travels only slightly backwards at the very end before dropping down

Today I snatched and C+Jed on the same day for the first time ever. I only started snatching again three days ago but my mobility has improved a lot so it felt very good. The fact that I was even able to snatch and clean on the same day means the ability of my joints to handle more volume has significantly improved.
But holy **** it's super ****ing hard to snatch and clean on the same day. I was so tired and fatigued when I finished snatching that I was only able to clean 90. It was slow off the floor and my recovery was an exhausting grinder, neither should normally be the case. I'm normally not pull-limited on the clean but I was super slow off the floor after heavy snatching. The result was I had to move under the bar much faster, and the resulting video looks pretty cool, except when I got rocked forward in the recovery. But damn, I was so tired I quadruple-bounced a 90 clean.

There are a couple of people who have done this. I did it for a short while and it worked pretty well. I had other stuff in the unit from moving, but there was no problem. I would talk to the manager about it just in case they have a problem, but I doubt they will. I've read other people who did had no issues, just let the manager know and you're good to go.
