haha mirin? I'm so pumped, the school I was at before I transferred was terrible, one weight room for the entire school and we had like 165 kids on the football team, only 3 squat rack platform combos in the entire gym. lifting was a nightmare. but at my new uni theres a varsity weight room, and yea all those platforms are so awesome. the head strength and conditioning coach apparently doesn't really care what kids do either, so I don't think I'll have a problem oly lifting

student gyms are terrible. its like planet fitness, but with crappier equipment (in most cases, there are some incredible student gyms obviously). very few platforms and squat racks, and **** form by weak people. obviously you had people curling in the racks and on the platforms, but at my old school I remember a kid picked up a pair of 10 pound dumbbells, walked away from the dumbbell rack and onto one of the 3 platforms, and started doing lateral raises.

hit 90/100 yesterday. only been back for 1 month, after 1 year of no lifting(or exercising for that matter). feels good to hit my lifetime best (in the snatch) after just 1 month.

yeah, hysen is a great example. He does it to an extreme(and even on his pulls), but Rob Adell does, well I guess did it as well. Other various lifters too.
I noticed I did it on my 144 clean yesterday, and 144 is nowhere near a maximal front squat for me (my efficiency is not the greatest, lol)

I am not really that worried about it, but kinda find it odd, lolBryan

That is caused from not actively driving the knees out and also inadequate mobility in the hips when receiving low. My suggestion: mob the fuark out of your anterior hip and glutes, and strengthen the VMO. It is in injury waiting to happen, not to mention you are in a sub-optimal position for generating force through the legs.

Brahs today I was stretching and noticed that my shins are starting to scar up.
Do you guys put anything on your shins to protect them? Or am I just being a bitch? It's not a big deal but it's a considerable amount for just OLY lifting for 2 months nowSnatch: 122

If you guys needed motivation for your training today:
If weightlifting changed to Push Press and Deadlift it would be a way better sport, more fun to watch and we would do a lot better than we are right now. Really O-lifting isn't real lifting it's gymnastics with a barbell. The snatch is probably the most useless movement ever and if you press out the C&J it gets turned down, how dumb is that. I even read a weightlifting series by Lyle McDonald that stated having too much strength is a detriment to O-lifting. Any strength sport that makes maximum strength a negative is not strength sport at all and should be replaced by a real one like Powerlifting771/645/622 Single Ply

Probably one of the silliest remarks I've heard against weightlifting in a long time;
"When a lifter has to use all leg drive and body dive to lockout the bar out that's just not what a strength sport should be."
Talking about weightlifting not being a strength sport, but then mentions that they have to use leg drive? Perfect example of an idiot.- Impossible is lifting up your country

Bay State games were today. I was supposed to compete but my shoulder is injured :-(. Anyway my training partner competed and hit 88 in the snatch and 111 CJ at 75kg bodyweight. It was his first meet and both those numbers were 1kg PRs for him. Went 6/6. Pretty solid day.
There was also this lifting goddess who did 107 in the clean and jerk from Robinson's Weightlifting (part of Bridgewater State University). She was gorgeous and I wanted to talk to her, but she was helping all the her male teammates warm-up and I didn't want to be rude. The best Weightlifting forum on the web:

depressed as ****.
been going at 85kg snatch for 3 weeks now still can't hit it, took like 10 tries at it monday and nothing. I can get 80kg consistently, my technique is still pretty off idk if thats whats causing me to miss 85. just from what I can see looks like I need to keep my torso more upright, also looks like the bars getting too far away from me and I'm jumping forward to catch it.
been feeling really crappy in the gym since 4th of july, hoping its just poor recovery and I haven't already hit a plateau. dunno how I could plateau my best ATG squat is 150kg lolGet This Shiiiiiiiiiiiit

Been reading about triple extension vs catapult.
Dunn what to believe. What do the Russians and Chinese do? It looks like catapult from the vids, especially the Chinese.
Hmm. You did jump forward a bit. Maybe you're swinging it out a bit in front. But I dunno it looks decent to me.Snatch: 122

chinese are catapult, dunno about russians. if you go onto lift hard.com and check out part 2: the technique of the chinese lifters, kirksman goes into detail about catapult and how the chinese do it. plug for lift hard.com, if you haven't checked it out yet guys its a great resource to learn more about the chinese weightlifting team and their training methods.
goddam jon north and his superman pull video, I saw it when I was first learning the oly lifts and it made me actually practice hitting the bar out with my hips instead of popping or scooping it upGet This Shiiiiiiiiiiiit

Russians do it too. As for your vid, you need to retreat your hips after you extend, and do it quickly. You just extend and never pull down after that, instead you let the bar take you with it. Jon North is a lifter, not a coach. Stick to coaches when trying to learn technique.
