This is my father's cousin, Lance Corporal Shane Parsons. This is him in the hospital receiving the Purple Heart award from President Bush. As you can tell, he was wounded in battle as his humvee(spelling?) drove over an I.E.D. Unforunately, both of his legs had to be amputated due to their condition. In his rehab, he has gone through so much pain and has to give a tremendous amount of effort to do the simple things we do on a daily basis. He doesn't ask for help from anyone, always wanting to do things on his own. I had the chance to meet him during a family dinner when he came into town. This man is a true hero, dealing with the cards delt to him, and I have all of the respect in the world for this man. Whenever I feel like I can't do something, or I'm struggling, I think of Shane and tell myself to suck it up because there are people that have it much much worse. I would also like to thank the troops that are oversea's fighting for our country, come home safe men and women!

No pics but my Uncle. He lives in MX, if any of you have been over there it is brutal, Comptom is a walk in the park compared to most places in MX. Anyway, he was walking downtown one day in broad daylight, and downtown over there is unbelievably crowded 24/7, and some guys beat him with a bat to take his wallet.... he didn't even have money in the wallet and nobody really did much as that type of thing is so common over there that even cops are slow to react to it.

Long story short it's been over ten years, he was left completely paralyzed from the neck down. He has a wife and a daughter, who now basically live to take care of him. All he can do is stare at the wall all day. He still has some speech left and can make some facial expressions.... the inspirational part is that after all this he must be going crazy, but he always smiles and the first thing he says is "pasame una tecate" (pass me a beer)? He says it joking as he can't even more his arms anymore but it was always his line and to this day he still says it with a smile. I don't know how on earth he keeps his spirits up, but he does.

He inspires me because after his injury.He worked his a** off and still came back bigger and stronger then ever.He is also natural and it is guys like him that show us we don't need ph's or steroids to get big.You just need dedication and hard work.So thank you layne =)

My mom also inspires me a lot.She raised two kids by herself and has always made sure we had the best she could provide.She has taught me my manners and made me the man I am today and I thank her so much for that.She also was the only one behind me when I started working out.If it wasn't for her I would prob still be a little skinny kid.

Without hesitation in thinking, my son:

Before he was born my life was basically in shambles. I spent most of my time partying and blowing money. It wasn't until he was born that I settled down and became serious of what life is really all about. It's amazing what a little person can do to you. If it weren't for him I would be engaged, own a home, and have the will to work everyday and still hit the gym

He drives me towards success.

Definitly Frank Mcgrath i kept up with him since i started bodybuilding just because i always wanted to look like him ... always wanted my forearms as big as his and be built like that.I was tired of being looked at the chubby dude in the group so i changed my life and started bodybuilding not im the only non-fat person in the group lol

Dave Tate is probably one of the people that inspire me the most when it comes to lifting. Whenever I get discouraged I read one of his articles and his no nonsense and crude in your face attitude makes me want to work harder because I can be just as strong as he or anyone else is. Not only that, though. The man is a damn power lifting genius, I learned to squat, bench and deadlift from this guy. Before my technique sucked, after reading his articles I learned how to make it better and the numbers just keep going up nearly every two weeks. Not to mention that he's out to prove that power lifters aren't fatties, ha.

Royce Gracie, the man literally changed the entire Mixed Martial Arts world. He showed that you can defeat a larger opponent by using proper technique. His family created one of the greatest martial arts known to man, and for those of you who have tried Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, you know how awesome it is. Royce inspired me to begin taking BJJ after seeing him submit numerous larger opponents in one night. Perhaps his greatest display of size not being a factor was when he deafeated Akebono (pictured above) who was an astonishing 6'8" and nearly 500 lbs. Royce, who was 6'1" ~180 lbs, went on to defeat him by shoulder lock
