Extreme dieting and Low seratonin lvls
hey guys,i wanted to post this topic on advanced nutrition, but thought that here more people can read about it.
so,i went on an extreme rip diet this summer from may till 1st of august, on heavy cardio days my diet was 65% carbs 25% prot and 10% fat.
and on weight lifting days, diet was 50% prot 30% carbs and 20% fat.
i zigzagged my calories through my diet, two days i went on a 1800 cals,3rd day went on 2800 cals.
now everything was going fine untill the beggining of the 3rd week where PANIC ATTACKS started hitting me 1st it was once every 2 or 3 days ,than once every day, than the frequency started to go on an exponential increase ,from half of july till i stopped my diet ,panic attacks started hitting me more than 8 times a day.
now i can't explain what a ****ty feeling it is,always having palpitations ,feeling something bad is gonna happen, light headed, feeling like dieing or so .finally i decided its time to go to a sports physician,on my way their i was thinking ahhh hope its not something serious,so when i got their and sat with the doctor he started asking me questions i explained what i was doing and what was my daily diet/training routine,we did some tests, every thing was normal except for the seratonine lvls, they were very low,he went like this is the core of ur problem, low seratonine lvls r the main cause for those panic attacks.
and what usually cause low serat. lvls are depression, lack of sleep, fatigue, and extreme dieting,in my case it was the diet i went through, apperantly not enough cals for my body.
anyways i went on a medication for a couple of weeks just to boost the serat. lvls back up,and amazingly all symptoms simply vanished into thin air.
so i am here just wanted to share my experience incase someone is having similar problems, low serat lvls may be the cause.
what i was advised that when on a cut diet i should maintain a -200 cals deficit for 3 weeks and every 2 weeks i should subtract 100 cals from my diet until hitting my target weight, because this way i can give my body a chance to get along and get used to the special regime am going through.

The mean dog fights the good dog all the time." When asked which dog wins, he reflected for a moment and replied, "The one I feed the most.
